Default Display Res. Problems.

I just bought Galciv2 and added the 1.4 update before running it for the 1st time.

I have a 1680x1050 widescreen LCD monitor. The default resolution the software caused the dispaly to start at the halfway point on my monitor and thus the far right 1/4 of the dispaly was beyond the edge of the monitor and couldn't be seen.
As I could barely see the edge of the buttons of the opening menu (but couldn't see the text to the right of them) I randomly clicked buttons until I found the configuration menu. And of course the video tab was the one I couldn't see at all but I eventually was able to blindly click on it to bring up the video options. So in the end I was able to change the resolution to one that matched my monitor and happily play the game. However, the default display behavior of the software should be changed. I have never had this problem with other games using a full screen mode by other publishers such as Age of Empires III. They all managed to display properly on my monitor before I customized the display options.

I've got the same issue. Default rez seems way off. Can't see menue options or in my case randomly select them. It seems the only way is to reinstall game though I don't want to do this obviously. It did this before I updated to 1.4

You can manually set the game's resolution in the file prefs.ini (located in My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2) if your display has issues with 1024x768x32. Just change the lines DisplayHeight and DisplayWidth to the appropriate values. You can also make the game run in windowed mode by setting Fullscreen=0.
