Firewall Settings to display medals?

So I have this new PC and new Firewall software (CA ISS3) and I currently have the default high level of protection set. The only problem is that with these settings I can't see the medals with the posts.

There's two ways for me to deal with this. One is to set up an expert rule that can allow any particular set of protocols to/from a range of IP addresses. This is probably the most secure way to do this. But I'd need to know which protocol(s) and IP address range
to allow. I suppose I should be able to figure out the IP range as long as it's static, although I'm not quite sure how to do this. I have no clue whatsoever as to which protocol(s) to allow.

The other way is to change the default high level of protection for *all* sites (hopefully as minimally as possible) so that I can see the medals. There are a bunch of controls to allow this. The only thing is that I have no idea which one or more are necessary to change to allow displaying medals.

Here's a screen shot of the options I have. Anyone got a clue?

Actually, there's a third option which is to live without the medals, but I *like* the medals.

A fourth solution is to lower the protections to medium except I'm using a DSL hub to share files between computers in the "safe" zone so I'd prefer to keep the "restricted" zone (i.e. everything not local) as tight as possible.

[edit] Actually medium setting still doesn't display the medals. [/edit]

[edit] Actually even the low setting still doesn't display the medals. Only when I totally disable my firewall do I see the medals and that's a little too much to ask. [/edit]

I get the feeling the firewall or something else you have is just interfering with the javascirpt (and/or other stuff if you're still using IE). AFAIK the medals don't use anything that special so they shouldn't be treated any differently than regular HTTP traffic.

We're using AJAX technology to display the medals. I would research the use of AJAX methods and any issue that your particular firewall may have with that. You might also try searching at http://ajax.asp.net as there are lots of good posts surrounding IE and AJAX there.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I may do a fifth option and that's to reinstall the older e-Trust Security Suite instead of the newer Internet Security Suite (both from CA) and use the new license for the older software.

This is actually the configuation I have on my older PC which doesn't have these issues. The other thing is that this site isn't the only one that had issues with the CA Internet Security Suite Firewall, but it is the only one that turning the protection down to medium didn't fix.

I did end up re-installing the older "eTrust Internet Security Suite" to replace the newer "Internet Security Suite 3 Pack" and all my issues have seemed to go away. I probably need to wait a few days before I declare victory but so far it looks pretty good.

If anyone else finds themselves in this situation you can continue to use the older executables with the newer license (although I never could get the nimrods at Computer Associates Customer Support to admit this).
