How to put fonts on buttons and...

I'm trying my hand at skinning sysmetrix and rainlendar and need some help. How do I put fonts on buttons? That's one...
What is the difference between bitmap margins and text margins? That's two...What do the numbers mean after days font in rainlendar? For example...19/0/0/0/3/2/1/34...I think the first is point size. Am I right? But the other ones I have no clue. Also in sysmetrix the different graphics images...in the .ini file the graphics description...is it always on for each graphics image? I have so many questions and don't know if there's room enough. Anyway...if anyone can lend a hand I'll be most grateful.

P.S.- Does anyone know the author of the Follower smx? I'd like to request permission to use his or hers glass images for the clock and histogram. Thanks

Next question...sysmetrix...Wall is finished and now I need some pointers on how to do the ini file for my smx. Always on...is it for every graphic image? Plus I see various
sizes for fonts. I understand why but...ooops...answered my own question. You put fonts on as you make them, quote unquote. Sometimes my brain works, like cloud instead of could...oh boy. Oh yeah... I wanted to know if anyone knows the author of the follower smx. I need to request permission to use two images for the smx.

What Sysmetrix you asking about ?

It's called The Follower smx. Found it some time ago when I first started visiting WC.
I think the author is the same as blue master but I'm not sure. Anyway...made my first rainy using Gimp. Just a simple orb. I kept it as simple as possible. Did the ini and copied it to Rainlendar. But when I called up the rainy nothing worked. I double checked the ini, corrected a few mistakes and then compared it to one that was similar.
I could not find anything wrong with it. The days do not show up nor does the month or year. What did I do wrong?

Be easier if you mailed it to me - probably something very simple to fix .
Just zip the whole folder to email it..if you want.

If you did email it , I haven't recieved it yet , and I checked spam folder. Just didn't want you to think I didn't reply if you had sent it.

I've never had to edit a sysmetrix ini. I've always been able to do everything I wanted through the configuration window.

One in a while I've had to. Through trial and error because some background images weren't showing up or the smx was applying in pieces. Sometimes two thirds of the skin would be missing and at other times just a tiny corner. I still have one or two I haven't quite figured out yet. Azar was one because the background image's name did not match in the ini. That one works fine now. I'm just a little confused about writing the ini for mine. Fairyy...I just sent the zip to your e-mail. The first one I sent to aql.com by mistake. I don't think you'll get it although if you have a twin there she might. lol

Im looking at this now - Im not sure what happened because the ini file couldnt possibly work the way it is. The only thing I can think of is you didnt save the changes so it reverted back to the way it was before you started. I'm able to get everything to show but Ive have to change everything - the font size was too big for the bmp for the font to display and every color was on ' black' thats why they didn't show up against the dark bmp. I'll try to fix it so you can compare - but theres a few commands missing too. Buttons wont toggle without the command in the ini . I'll send it back after I try to explain some of it. It had to be your changes werent saved.

Thanks Fairyy...Sometimes when looking at the way the ini files are set up I get a bit confused. It looks easy enough to do until you actually do it. Then it's another story
altogether. Oh yeah...forgot about the commands for the button toggles.(hits self upside the head).

Hopefully you got the Rainy - I mailed it back to you - your version and the corrected version renamed Orb V2 so you can compare the changes. Hope that helps a bit.

It helped a great deal. I was so stupid about letting that get past me. Anyway...I'm going to do an update on it because the way the image is. It needs a bit more cleaning up. I will however use the same ini. Thanks again for your help.

Your welcome - I didn't want to touch your image ( except to remove the magic pink ) - looking forward to seeing your finished Rainlender.

Hi it's me again. In trying to update Blue Orb I ran into a problem. Right clicked on the rainy and there is no edit current skin. Tried right clicking on rainlendar itself and no deal. Actually Blue Orb is my second rainy. My first is called Emerald RL and this one is a bit more complex. It's part of a minisuite I'm working on and it is giving me a migraine. I can get all but the days to show. I followed the ini from Blue Orb to the letter and still it won't work. I know it's probably something right in front og my face but Jeez...what a pain in the rear. Any suggestions?

Have the Rainlender that you want to edit on your desktop - Right click on Rainy and follow the screen shot below to " Edit Current Skin "

Any suggestions?

Honestly? Most think a Rainlender is no big deal to make. The truth is its a royal pain in the ass most days. Unless you just slap up a rainback and an ini file and let the Rainlender use its default settings ( which is far easier than making all the parts yourself IE: Buttons , ToDo Lists, Event lists. Items pngs etc)
A perfect rainlender - Bitmaps are made for all parts including fonts. Those can take days if not a week or longer - especially if you make substyles ( small mode, Horizontal mode etc )
Rainlender seems to be dying out at the momemt, I'm not sure if its the introduction of " Vista " or people are just using sidebars , widgets etc. Most of my Rainlenders are geared for " Women " so I never expect a lot of downloads. But, I'm at the point that I'm not sure I'll bother making anymore Rainlenders. Unless there is an influx of women suddenly joining Wincustomize..I'll just finish up the couple I have unfinished at the moment.

I'm not trying to discourage you - please continue to finish what you've started.
I'll be here to help if I can..

As for the " I can get all but the days to show " when you get to the " Edit current skin " click on the " Days " tab and make sure the little check box to enable days is ticked and make sure rasterizer is on Fonts not Bitmap.

Perhaps those of us who like rainys can keep 'em alive. I for one love these things. I have two buttons to go and it'll be done. I also have another in the works. Then there are the smxs...I got the bug. Thanks Fairyy...you rock! Seems we share a similar taste in rainys...looking at your list I see a lot of the ones I have.
I also have of few of yours. Maybe geared towards women but it's the artwork I enjoy.

Your welcome - I gather you found the " Edit current skin " ?
Hopefully Rainlender will stick around - as for my rainy list , thats not even 1/10th of them. I download most of the rainies cos I too enjoy seeing what others come up with..I'm not saying all my Rainies are strictly for women - some are just meant for anyone that likes a bit of whimsy - I've seen lots of my Rainies used in men's screen shots. Sounds like you've made progress and are home free now ....
