Update your drivers.

unique machine name that is.

Chip Type: Intel(R) 82845G Graphics Controller

It's not clear if this card will work with the game at all. It's no longer supported by Intel and the latest driver is from 6/28/05. It's certainly worth downloading the driver and giving it a try. Assuming you're on Win2k or WinXP it's at:

http://downloadfinder.intel.com

Checking with the Wiki this card isn't mentioned as either being supported or explicitly not supported. If the driver doesn't fix it you're probably going to need a new card. The Intel Extreme Graphics (800 Series) chips are mentioned as perhaps working. Not sure if the 82845G is part of this series or not.

It is, and aside from the two models mentioned on the wiki page, all should work with the last driver update intel made available.

benthebaker, in addition to grabbing the video driver update mentioned by the others, you should update the game to 1.4X as well. You can find that patch on the downloads page of this site, or on Stardock Central.

This is from the Intel site:
Only the IntelĀ® G965 Express Chipset Family supports hardware Transform and Lighting (T&L)1. All other IntelĀ® graphics products do not have hardware support for T&L. In most games, transform and lighting calculations can be performed on the processor with acceptable performance. A small number of games that specifically check for hardware T&L support may fail to run.

And it looks like that graphics chip is DX7,8 compatible, with limited compatibility for DX9.

Did some more research, and while in fact most intel chipsets (even the newest ones) don't natively support hardware T&L, they have built-in support (via firmware or driver) for emulating that functionality on the CPU.

It's not quick or pretty but it gets the job done, and lets the chipset natively run (functionality-wise, saying nothing of performance) things that do require T&L. In this case, GC2.
