Good or Bad??

I was always wondering if it was right to have an online bf/gf. I mean you can chat but then words on the screen can be mistaken as love when they really arnt...could you all tell me what you think....

There is no such thing as online Love...

there is lust, but the lust is created because of the suspense and anticipation... I wouldn't recommend an online relationship to anyone... They cant even come close to comparing to the real thing...

Then again, if you are socailly inept, I suppose they offer something you could be looking for... just not my style... I like to touch.

Firstly you have point but there are pros and cons to the situation. My sister met her man online, they got to know each other mentally WITHOUT lust and sex getting in the way.
They have been together for quite a while now, their bub is due in June and they are even more in love. I know another couple who are married with kids, who met online. I also know people who have had their hearts broken by players. That can happen online or off, if people are sincere and honest an online relationship can work just like one in the " real world". I have an online boyfriend he is the most wonderful person in the world and i thank the powers that be every day for the net or I would never have met him.

I wonder if you will feel the same when you *meet* him...

Look, I know heaps of dudes who have found Love online... but courting online, and continuing a relationship online is a waste of time for my money... If there is someone you are interested in, you have to meet them straight away and see if sparks fly, otherwise people feelings can get hurt...

We actually write real letter too and i now officially own half of telstra OMG. Honestly though, he is the most caring man i have ever met and yes we know alot about each other and he has supported and encouraged me through so much. BTW we met and fell in love before i found out I was ill.

MidNiteLove- I acttually did a lot of research on this. I interviewed a lot of people and was writing a book on it. I even put up personal ads and answered ads. I stopped working on the book when my daughter met a guy online and fell in love. I am not one to try offering a lot of advice and I dropped out of Psychology in college, so this is really just an opinion.
Obviously, sometimes it really does work out. There are people that swear by it. There are others that completely take advantage of it and use it. Online, you seem to connect first on a purely emotional level, which makes the connection seem strong enough to survive. To females, this means a lot.
The thing is, there are no guarantees to any relationship. Ones that start from a physical attraction fail too sometimes. You just have to go with your gut and trust your instincts and heart. The thing about online relationships is to remember that insticts can sometimes be a little off. You have to use caution. You have chat and write, talk on the phone and only meet in public places. I guess when I hear of any online meetings, that is the thing that worries me the most.
I hope I haven't rambled too much and have made some sense. Just be careful.

I know a lot of people who are with their current interests because of initial online connections. Searching through a service is easier in some ways... you can do a little bit of weeding out, but ultimately, how do you know that people are exactly who they say they are? This is where the face-to-face relating works out better in the long run.

The people I know (myself included) did not use online dating services. We met people in chat, started out as friends and feelings grew.
I agree with WiseFawn ..trust you instincts .......... and any relationship can be good or bad.
I prefer to be friends first n have a solid basis ..I'm not a "phone number given out when drunk in a bar" kinda girl.

Nicky ..how do you know someone you meet in "real life" is who they say they are? I had a friend who fell in love and had her heart broken by a married man ..she only found out he was married when she saw him out with his family.

Any relationship is built on trust, love and hope...on or off line.
