I need help with a download

Oops

Hi guys. I did a dum-dum. I disconnected my dial-up while the new WinCustomize WCSelect suite was still downloading and now it won't work. I've tried to remove it with the Theme Manager (since it was only about half the theme) and, although it indicates it was removed, it won't redownload. I've also tried using explorer to to remove the theme from the theme directory in Theme Manager, but that doesn't work either. If I try to apply the WCSelect theme from theme manager it applies a hodgepodge of older items. Can anything be reset so I can redownload the WCSelect Theme. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey BDBF...does your pc even allow you to delete the WCSelect folder? If it does, do you reboot after doing that to see if it then allows you to redownload? If your not beong allowed to delete the foldrr try using this Unlocker 1.8.5

Ya, it allows it to be deleted. I thought I tried rebooting after deleting once, but maybe I messed that up and rebooted without deleting first. I'll try that again(delete then reboot), thanks.

Well everything I've tried doesn't work. I've deleted the theme file from the Theme Manager themes subdirectory, did a file registry maintenance, rebooted and then attempted to download again. This time it allowed the download, but the download produced the exact same hodgepodge of older stuff. I've given up for now. There is nothing more I can think of to do from this end.

This is truly strange that its giving you such a hard time. Have you tried moving your themes out of Theme Manager and then uninstall/reinstall Theme Manager? If that doesn't work then I have no idea what will.

BDbf...I also had a problem downloading WCSelect. Solved the problem by downloading WCSelect
going through the wincustomize browser.  Now a happy camper

I finally solved the problem using FireFox. All the other attempts kept using my windows default to open the download with Theme Manager. This caused Theme manager to somehow find the old corrupt file(7.48MB) and attempt to apply it. I know this doesn't sound possible especially since I had used Theme Manager to remove the file and rebooted. I also tried using Explorer to banish the corrupt file to the recycle bin, emptied it and then rebooted. Theme Manger every time would interrupt the download process after just a few seconds and attempt to apply a file called "WC%20%Select" which was always the same corrupt file. I couldn't find anyway to use SDC or IE7 since both would cause Theme Manager to interrupt. So, I used FireFox to download to the desktop which allowed the download to complete without Theme Manager interrupting.

This is definitely one cool looking theme.

Thanks for responding guys. I'm glad I didn't have to uninstall Theme Manager to solve this. I'm pretty sure the problem occured when I had Theme Manager attempt to apply the corrupt download. This probably changed some things in the system registry, and since the download hadn't completed, the changes made were the source of the problem. In any case, I found a way to Skin that Cat! Merry Xmas!
