Starbases unable to kill

Starbases seems to be unable to destroy enemy ships in the beta, they can cause damage but the ship wont be destroyed no matter how much damage it takes. I know it happens between a player owned starbase and an A.I. ship but I have not confirmed that its the case between an A.I. owned starbase and a player owned ship.

Please do

If you find it to be the case, or at least reproduce the AI vs player starbase method, please send a savegame and directions to reproduce to [email protected].

I can confirm that strange behavior.

You will get an e-mail with a savegame included, shortly.

I tried to destroy a AI starbase with 2 tiny zero-def 1gun-attak ships and did recieve a lot off damage but my ships never ever would be destroyed.

So my brave little hero-fighter captain just did take around 300 dmg and wasn´t destroyed, but only if I was attacking with a small 2 fighter fleet.

I tried an approach with one off this ship´s alone and it was lost in space for ever.

Hope that will help

Thanks for sending in your saved games.

I have identified the problem.  Damage from starbases was not being applied, and because of that, the ships were not killed.  The problem HAS been fixed now, though.

Also, you may have noticed that starbases cause more damage than the HP on the ship they are attacking.  This caused damage amount reports to be off.  That also has been fixed.

I am confused as to why this topic is even being discussed?

Why would anyone want to waste their time arming starbases???

Yes in Galciv 1 it was worth doing but as for galciv 2... c'mon, pleeeaaase - i don't even know why starbase defences are even in the game?

Spend all that time researching the techs, max out the starbase, and the first half assed fleet that comes along blasts it all to smitherines as if it was a target drone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh sorry, i just remembered... one of my remaining maxed out starbases managed to kill a lone heavy fighter.

The point of the thread was to point out a bug; not to make an argument for arming star bases.

If you read carefully what i said, you might notice i used the word 'topic'.

So although your point seems valid, for those of us who actually understand english, your correction is quite missplaced.

This was the topic. This thread is in the Beta Reports.

I am confused as to why this topic is even being discussed?

It was to help the Devs with a bug regarding damage done by the starbases.

Why would anyone want to waste their time arming starbases???

No matter what kind of rational thought you decide to use, this was not the topic.

So although your point seems valid, for those of us who actually understand english, your correction is quite missplaced.

I believe his correction is dead on and I am very well versed in the English language.

Oh, and before you attempt to rip someone up for pointing out the obvious, learn how to quote properly so we may see what exactly it is you are referring to.

One more thing, I am not typically someone who jumps on others for spelling but the word English is capitalized and the word misplaced only has one s. Not to be picky or anything but I figured I would point this out to you, since you understand the English language so well.

I didn't force anyone to pick on my post, neither did i start the thread, i just posted my opinion that i am suprised the topic is of interest due to how pathetic starbase defences are, that is why i made the post.

Spelling??? who cares about spelling hahaha sounds like you need to lighten up and get a life.

Hi!
Why would anyone want to waste their time arming starbases???

In early game (at least in pre-1.4 versions I know) that was the cheapest way to assure they survive attacks from attack1-3 fighters, and assure I keep control of the underlying resource. It was also the cheapest way to make opponent lose lots of ships (resources) for mere 5-6 transports (~1k resources).

In mid-game it makes sense to arm the already-armed SBs some more, esp. if one has the proper defenses (those +25 defenses one gets when reseraching higher levels of defensive tech). That frees more ships for attack instead defense.

But in late game it's pointless, like you already said.

The topic was of interest due to the fact that it was a bug within the game and the developers needed to be made aware of it.

You asked a question sir...

I am confused as to why this topic is even being discussed?

Your question was answered by Jeff Graw. He wasn't picking on your post, he was simply pointing out the reason for the original post.

The point of the thread was to point out a bug; not to make an argument for arming star bases.

For some reason you decided he needed to be put in his place, or at the very least learn to understand English.

So although your point seems valid, for those of us who actually understand english, your correction is quite missplaced.

I agree with you that starbases are rather pathetic, and that everyone has the right to post an opinion if they so desire. My point is you did not have to be so rude sir. You asked a question, he answered.

Bottom line, none of us want our game to contain bugs, no matter how trivial they may be to some, they still need to be found and disposed of.

Spelling??? who cares about spelling hahaha sounds like you need to lighten up and get a life.

Aparently you do not. There are many others on this forum that do, however, as I stated previously, I do not tend to correct. I just did so because it seemed you thought you understood the English language better than Jeff. I was simply pointing out, you do not.

The proper way of doing it is to mark the text (either by clicking and holding down the LMB and dragging the marker over the text OR setting the marker at one end and,,while holding down the shift button,,and then either use the arrow keys or click LMB at the end of said text).
After that,,you click the Quote button.

Spelling??? who cares about spelling

Most likely those who try to READ the drivel spouted out on this board.

The problem HAS been fixed now, though.

Excellent! This is the reason Stardock has a lot better reputation than some other game companies
