Infection

Hey guys,

Hope I'm not disturbing with a stupid question but I've got at problem with my computer. I know I've posted something looking a lot like this post, but nothing has helped.

I think my computer is infected. I often have to restart my computer several times before it starts up properly. My AntiVirus-programs (Norton 06, AVG, Windows Defender 2) don't work. I've tried LiveOneCare. It says it's found something, but it doesn't remove anything. Another thing is that my internet is more slow than it used to be. I'm also only able to be on the internet for 5 minutes at a time before it closes down.

Thx for any help. You guys rock!

Try Avg or Avast AntiVirus programs. never run 2 antivirus programs at one time. That will slow your computer up.
Good Luck!

Restart it in safe mode, and then try to scan it. I think you hit F2 before the Windows logo comes up when it's booting, then the boot screen will come up, and select safe mode.

Tried everything. Nothing seems to work.

Unable to boot to safe mode?
Unable to clean off virus?
Need viagra?

What have you done since your last post?

Tried everything.

Backup data...Format C: Reinstall everything with up to date Antivirus first.

That's assuming you really have tried EVERYTHING.

Nope...and there's a weird story attached to that, regarding my metabolism....

At least now I know why I was suffering with insomnia. It kept my eye lids up all night...instead.

You can try this Avast Cleaner
It's not an anti-virus program, it's just a cleaner. It has worked well for me...but it depends on the type of infection you have. Just download it and run it. Very small file size so you should be able to snatch it off the web before you shut down.

Another thing that works wonders is SpySweeper. You can download a trial version of it and, while it won't clean up the problem without purchase, you can use it to help identify what ails you. If, by chance, you have an MSN Premium subscription you can download a fully functional version of the program for free. It runs on start-up, just like an anti-virus. It is definately worth the money if you have the $$ to spend.

One other really good online site is PC PITSTOP. It will run a bunch of diagnostics on your computer, connection, drives, video etc. and give you great advice on how to speed up your system. They also have a full forum section that you can get help in. PC Pitstop is free.

Get rid of Symantec/Norton. Seriously, that program alone can cause half of the troubles you describe. Even if you paid for it. I run Avast and I never have any problems.

If you think it's a virus, browse this list of removal tools and look for the one that you think concerns your case.

http://www.symantec.com/enterprise/security_response/removaltools.jsp

You can run them all if you want to make sure there's not a single bug hiding in some corner. Still better than formatting and reaplying all those skins.

I think you need to do a cleaning. I use cCleaner from download.com and it is free Great tool. It may take a long time but let it work. What kind of Spyware to do have?? Or a Resigtry Cleaner. I have Resigtry Mechanic. It is good. If none of those work you may have to do a reinstall.

I am feelin' for ya.
