Where do I get a refund?

Where do I get a refund?

I'm going to WalMart to see if they will take GC2 back.

The box says "32MB DirectX 9.0c card". I know my video is wimpy - just the built-in 64MB (shared) Intel in this laptop. But dxdiag reports the version as "DirectX 9.0c" on the very first screen.

Since dxdiag thinks I have 9.0c and 64MB of vid ram (which is a tiny bit more than the min requirements printed on the box), how am I supposed to figure out that I lack support for a damn font???

That's the error message I get: my drivers are too old to support a true type font. Does that mean I can delete all that clutter on my C drive like arial.ttf? And here I was thinking all along that I was using true type fonts in Word and stuff.

I guess I'll have to dig up MOO2 or SMACX if I want to play a TBS game on the relic (2 years old) of a laptop I own. I won't dig out GC1 since I'm pretty mad at Stardock right now.

I think I found a bug.

Not a bug if there's an error dialog for it.

I'm supposed to revive your old thread to respond to you, but you are free to quote an entire post from another thread here?

Just putting the stuff on the same topic where it belonged.

But, if i was hypocritical, i can be, because I'm Novy. I'm just that awesome. If I come off as sounding arrogant it is merely because I'm better than you

By the way, to say something on topic for once, kryo, is PCI express really all that expensive? When I built my computer 2 years ago my motherboard came with an PCIe X16 port that cost me all of 4 dollars over the model with an extra PCI port in place of the PCIe. I think the whole board was maybe 90 dollars. As for my dual DVI output PCIe graphics card (512mb + decent clockspeed), it was only 250, and is probably down around 150 now. I think you just see a flood of all the high end cards using the new express interface since it communicates with the motherboard more smoothly, but it doesn't necessarily translate to expensive.

but if your computer has PCIe already or you can afford one that does, you have a lot more options in the high-end range.

My comp actually has two PCIe slots there so... just a matter of finding the best one I guess. Thanks for your input Kryo, even if you did burst my bubble yet again (I mean who really wants to admit that their system sucks?), but as always, it's been very informative, especially the links for specs.

It's expensive when you're comparing buying just a video card versus a video card and mobo (and potentially new RAM as well if you move to DDR2 at the same time), when you currently have an AGP-based system you're looking to upgrade.

When building a new system though, PCIe is a no-brainer. Especially since the AGP boards available out there number fewer every day (for the DIY folks), and few if any commercial builders even offer AGP. There's just no point in getting a new machine with AGP, unless you *just* bought the very highest AGP card available and your mobo failed shortly after.

It is a bug if the dialog text is poorly worded or wrong.

Exactly what I was doing.

because I'm better than you

I already did that dig. Maybe you missed the subtle "climb up to the level of WalMart trash" a few posts ago.

Anyway, I did what I felt needed to be done... submitted a bug report. It is really up to the devs to determine if it is a bug or not.

But now I have RL issues to attend to, so I'll sign off. Feel free to keep flaming me, n0v. As you said, Kryo probably has his finger on the ban button for you already. Although why you would say something like that unless you thought you were pushing the line is beyond me.

I figure that, at most, I'll come back to find this thread locked and/or a stern but polite warning from Stardock in my inbox to tone it down some. I'll stop here to avoid that possibilty. After all, you've demonstrated how you are better than me, so I've already lost.

So get the last word in, n0v. Make sure you really WIN this flame war. You seem to already think you have. (And then go back and read the reply you made (#25) in the AI gifiting thread. You said it, not me.)

I know, par for the course =\ i didn't get my birdie. I mean, attempting to quote me on Ad-hominem, that almost put me in position for a good shot, but then i realized it doesn't work for flaming, so there's nothing to flip. He should c'mere, and i'll buy him a 5 dollar beer, cuz that's a big deal . Anyone else want one?
