How you work cheats in demo?

I am new so tell me.
I also don't understand techno-computer talk.
so please be easy on me with understandable details

I have a class-26 jewel planet and the arcean empire and drengin both have transports coming towards me. So i tried the cheat in front of the target feild
What do i do to try cheat in demo?
