Wallpaper Hijacking

sigh...

The latest version of Windowblinds, WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 5 (5.1 (build 82 x86)).
Where has the setting gone to tell the system NOT to replace your wallpaper with the one supplied with the skin?
It's just not acceptable having my wallpaper hijacked and I don't want to use the wallpaper changer supplied, which by the way, does not have the setting I am referring to.

Phoon, just pick a wall in the list and apply it. From then on, you can use what you want. The default is "Use Skin Wallpaper", the first box, and you need to change to something else to unset it.

I don't want to use the wallpaper changer supplied

At work, I use a tool from systernals, called bginfo which generates a wallpaper with critical info. Windowblinds over rides it.
At home, I use Wallpaper XChange and it does not get over written by windowblinds.

I still think a valuable feature has been removed though.

You don't have to use the wallpaper changer in WB. You just have to pick a wall from it once, which is like setting it to NOT replace your wallpaper. Your wallpaper changer or changing it yourself from another folder or or a site on the web should work after that.
I've always had the option turned off in WB, and it bugged me when I got the newest version and it was changing my walls. Once I used it to change walls once, it hasn't messed with me since no matter how I change walls.

Under "Basic Settings" and under "Enhance Desktop Elements" uncheck the "Apply any wallaper supplied." Works for me.

WebGizmos,
Those settings are no longer there in WB.
The only place that even resembles it is a section titled "Override default settings", which doesn't include that option.

boss0190,
I get where you're coming from, but I'm still not a fan the method. Thanks though for offering a workaround. It's a band aid, but...

Hmmmm....Phoon...I'm running the latest version (Not Beta) and its right there in front of me...4th choice down in Settings... "Basic Settings" and then its right there under "Enhance Desktop Elements"..."Apply any wallaper supplied." Are you running the Beta version?

Bummer....I hate when they take important settings out like that!

Stardock apps have a habit of getting cluttered with settings and options. I think the new wallpaper picker clears up clutter and simplifies design.

It'll probably be easier for new users to figure out what's going on. It's only the older user who will have to learn a new (better) system.

new (better) system.

IMO, removal of a setting option is not an improvement. It is forcing me to use the wallpaper changing feature of WB instead of simply telling WB to not use any wallpaper supplied. I don't want to use the WB wallpaper changer, but I can live with it if I have to.

The feature has not been removed.

During testing of the wallpaper changer, it became apparent that having 2 ways to disable WBs wallpaper changer was confusing users.  So it has been cleaned up and there is now just one option.  This is on the wallpapers page where you would expect it.

If the wallpaper selected on the wallpapers page is not the Skin wallpaper setting then the wallpaper from a skin will not be applied automatically.

That works for me

There is my point. You are forcing me to use your wallpaper changer to select something other than the default setting of use skins wallpaper, at least once. This is going to change my wall then I have to go back to Wallpaper XChange (or whatever you might use) to then change it back.
As I said, it's not unlivable but it most certainly is NOT more convienient this way.

Anyway... case closed.
