Is this a graphics card problem?

Hi. Just bought GalCiv II yesterday and loaded it onto my laptop apparently without any problems. The opening "movie" plays fine - sound & graphics are amazing! But after the movie finishes, the game fails to begin. Just a black screen. What kind of problem have I got?

What resolution is your desktop set to, vs the default game resolution of 1024x768?

And, are your video drivers up to date?

There is a file called debug.err, located the the main program folder - usually C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2.

Open the file with Notepad, select all, copy and paste into the reply.

It contains details which may help track down the problem.
