A couple of things

I don't know if this belongs here, or if it's already been raised, but I'm having trouble with several things. First of all, the ship and movie animations are experiencing massive slowdown for me. Especially the explosions, the game takes almost a minute to resolve those. As for the movies, they tend to freeze about several seconds into them, while the audio keeps playing. Anybody know any solutions?

Try turning off Antialiasing in the Options/Video setup.

If you post your debug.err info (located in the main program folder - usually C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2. You can open it with Notepad, then copy and paste the entire contents into the reply) it might show where the problem area is. Usually it is a video card that is not up to spec or old drivers.

There is also a 'simple explosions' option if your system has trouble with the default ones. Check the Video options screen.
