Galciv2 won't resize/startup

Since one of the patches before a beta patch, everytime I try to start galciv2, it opens the window, and seems to just about go and resize it to fit the res, but stops just short and hangs. I check the programs list and it is still responding, it just doesn't want to render seemingly. I have it uninstalled right now, but could someone tell me the steps I should take to help the devs fix this problem? I don't know what they need as this is the first time I'e had a problem and haven't read the forums all that much yet.

If it is currently uninstalled, the first thing you should do is download version 1.31 from the Downloads section of this site.

Install that, then delete the Prefs.ini file in your My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2 folder. That will force the game to default settings.

If it still gives a problem when you try to start it, post the contents of the debug.err file in the reply. It is located in the main program folder, usually C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2.

This is a digital download one actually. i'll install it via stardock. Once it is done, do you want me to install that patch delete the prefs, then see if it works?

Adanu, you can get version 1.31 from Stardock Central also; you don't need the standalone download as well.  Just make sure that show pre-release versions is unchecked so that you don't get 1.4 until we put up the final version.

I just tried it, and it won't give a debug file. This one hasn't been updated since june. Gave me the same problem, I hit it and the start screen pops up, I hit play, and then it boots up, but seems to stop halfway. I also seem to only have 1.4 available in stardock, I turn off pre release and it doesn't do anything.

Any other ideas?

I'm gonig to try putting some new drivers when I get the chance. That's the only thing I can think of that might be causing this problem. That, or memory, and I doubt memory problems would cause the window to not render at all, more likely crash out.
