The Collector's Edition is coming to an end..

We're running out...

https://www.galciv2.com/Purchase.aspx

The Christmas season is starting to approach and with that in mind we've lowered the price of Galactic Civilizations II Collector's Edition to $39.95.  But be warned, we're running out of them. We have less than 5,000 of them left and that won't last very long. After that, only the standard edition is left.  The Collector's Edition comes with a technology tree poster, some extra ship parts, a nicer box, and more (along with a nicer box). And it has the same price as the regular version.

If you're shopping for a Christmas gift for a friend or relative that likes strategy games, pick up a copy of Galactic Civilizations II: Collector's Edition while supplies last. The top rated turn based strategy game of 2006 is available directly or at a store near you (Walmart also carries the Collector's Edition while supplies last).

Didn't the extra ship parts get included with the normal copies after a certain point?

Yeah, but there's more to it. For instance, CE purchasers get the option to type values into the $ and influence amount boxes in the tech trade dialogs. That one humble feature has probably saved me from contracting carpal tunnel syndrome since I started playing this game.

Wow, that seriously isn't in the non CE ones?

It has nothing to do with the CE, those features were added in the 1.0D/X patch, aka the Bonus Pack. And everything that was included therein has also been in every patch since, regardless of which version you have.

I'm not entirely sure why the Bonus Pack is on the CE page in the downloads section in the first place, considering the two have nothing to do with each other (the only thing the BP is good for now is if you really, really don't want to activate, since that first patch didn't require it).

You can get everything except the nice box and techtree poster via patches and downloads here, right? (the new shipparts)

I purchased the CE at Walmart and it DID NOT come with the TEch Tree Poster (which was the main reason I went out and bought it, rather than Dl'ing it.

You shopped at Walmort?!?! And got ripped off?!?! Woah! Anyways, guys, I'm not sure why you are all debating the differences between the SE and reg GalCivII and the DL GalCivII because all the OP is saying is that they all cost the SAME. So, if you want to get the ugly reg ed box, go ahead! Or if you want to get the swank SE, go ahead! It doesn't matter! It costs the same!

All I could ever find was the Collectors Edition. I looked for a regular one, but oh well the box is pretty and the tech tree poster was a godsend.
