Windows Crash on “Apply Skin”

My windows Crashes when I apply a new skin

Every time I download a new skin, or apply an already available skin that came with WindowBlind, the Windows Crashes. But it’s not just that, If I make a change to the configuration like the Per Application feature wich I use and hit apply changes the Windows crashes.   This is a severe problem, and a very concerning one. I don’t want any type of permanent damage to happen to my PC. I reinstalled WindowBlinds in hope of fixing the problem but it did not work. When I first had WindowBlinds I did not have any problems with it, just recently this started happening.

I have:
Wondows XP- Home Edition.
Service Pack 2
RAM: 1GB
CPU: 2.6 GHz

I have the full Object Desktop Pakage. With Windows Blinds, Desk X, IconX, Object Bar, etc. Most of those programs I have installed, but not all and I keep them updated through Stardock Central.

Please help.

It simply gives me the generic Wondows XP error message.

"Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

The the usual: "Please report this error to Microsoft."

There shoudl be a small link at the bottom of the error window where you can see detailed information. It will be a path to a log. Post that data here.

That is a big problem with posting the "small link at the bottom of the error window where you can see detailed information" because the windows crashes and It freezes up. I can't do anything but pull the plug.

can you update WB via SDC?

I am able to sue Stardock Central to update and I did, but It still crashed when I applied changes to windows blinds.

maybe is a hardware error.., there is a free tool that can make a deep scan into your ram.

it's "Windows Memory Diagnostic", try it., i also have some problems but with other programs and the main problem was with two of my memory cards (DDR).

Basically it's like this. When I apply a new skin and I like it it stays up for a week or a month etc. Then I go to the webpage to download new skins. And I downloaded a new one and when it auto Pllied it the windows crashed. So it might be do to that skin. So I'll keep all the skin that I now work fine because I had them installed and the ones I'm not sure about I will get rid off and come back here to see if that was it or not. If I have to I will uninstall the entire WB and delete all my skins.

I'll try the software. My 3 DDR work fine. I have 2 "256 DDR" and one "512 DDR". I have for couple years now. Will upgrade soon. (I'm gonn abuild a new PC ground up for less than $600 but make it a power house because I found great "new" parts online and fairly cheap ^_^
