Help with LogonXP

Hey. I need help with LogonXP.
I can download it and everything just fine. But I can only use the default logons it comes with. For some reason it won't let me put downloaded logons into it. Can someone please help me?!?!?!

When you download the LogonXP files you have two options. One, putting the files in the correct folder yourself, C:\Program Files\WinCustomize\Logon Studio... or...Two opening Logon Studio and selecting "Load" then finding the file.

After you have done this correctly try applying. If you still encounter the error then I would suggest reinstalling.

Other than that, just to make sure, are you editing the UIFile at all? This can cause many problems if you haven't followed the correct syntax.

Can you give an example of a Logon that didn't apply?

Post the exact file extension of the downloaded LogonStudio File.

so i cant even edit it when i click edit it says somethign like error "76" or somethign then path not found

Now I'm really confused...you CAN get the logon to load into LogonStudio, but it won't apply the logon when you select Apply?

Any error would be contributed to the UIFile, which I don't suggest attempting to edit unless you're familiar with the syntax.

I didnt mean i was tryin to edit it but i wanted to see if i could even get to that stage but it didnt work... Here is what i did: Downloaded file from wincustomize, then saved it in C:\Program Files\WinCustomize\LogonStudio, then opened logon studio and clicked load, found the file and at the top of the logon studio program where it says available logons and under that is says current: after i had loaded the file it said current:scarfa (the file i downloaded...) and in that window where all the other logons are it wasnt there... what do i do now? The file that i downloaded says its a logond studio document...

The folder that you put in the Logon Studio folder can't be a .zip file or a .logonxp file. If you click on the "scarfa" folder, inside of it has to be the .bmps, uifile, and theme.ini. If you click the "scarfa" folder and there is another folder inside of it, click on that folder and if you see the .bmps etc, THAT is the file that needs to go into the Logon Studio folder. LS won't see the files if they are inside a second folder or a .zip file.

Hope that helps.

A .logonxp file will when double clicked self install the logon.

A logonxp file is actually a renamed 'zip'.  The suffix is changed from '.zip' to '.logonxp' so that the installed LogonXP program will recognize it as a logon.

Sometimes the uploads are actually a logonxp file [archive] within a zip...and thus needs to be extracted to work...

What i did to get it to work was make a folder under Wincustomize/Logon/ for example
Wincustomize/Logon/Vista/ then opened the logonxp in winrar and extacted all the files in it to the new Vista folder.. worked.

Make sure the image you used for the center panel is a true bitmap and not a .jpg or .gif that you renamed to .bmp.
Open it in Paint or whatever graphics program and save it as a bmp. (.bmp 100) That should take care of the problem.
