While I am waiting on photos to upload, I thought I would start typing a bit of text. (I'm on dialup...yes I know...I'm hoping the ISP people will be out to install the radio equipment next week sometime...I'll write about that in the future....)
I went for a walk yesterday to the park to see how tree color is moving along. All last week while driving to work, I've been seeing the Aspen get a much darker golden color. Things are just now getting into peak color for fall. I took a few pictures to share with everyone, so enjoy...
While the clouds started off quite thick, they cleared off and it turned out to be a perfect day.

One of the things that I noticed is the overpowering golden color the trees have around here. There are few red colors here...almost everything is golden.

The gold in these trees isn't quite as developed as the others, but they are not far off.

Even the lichens and mosses that grow on the trunks of the trees in the park have a golden color.

I was able to find some red things after all. Here is a well worn maple leaf against the boardwalk part of the trail.

...and a few berries.

All of the flowers are finishing up for the year, and I managed to find something other than the yellow thats everywhere...

I've been to Pike Lake Provincial Park several times now. One of the little secrets known to the locals here is how tame the squirrels and chickadees are. If you get a chance to take the short nature trail, make sure to bring a small bag of mixed birdseed with you...the kind with sunflower seeds and with the smaller seeds. Even better, bring that along with your camera. The squirrels and chickadees will let you get as close as you can possibly get for a photo op. I managed to take a few shots of one particularly hungry squirrel.

I'll be back. I've got to get some better pictures of some chickadees....
