Why FTP user name/password dialog box?

Why do I get an FTP user name/password dialog box when I try to download some files? Tried a search to see if there was an answer already but I didn't come up with anything.

What site, what file?

Sorry, thought the forum category would indicate I am talking about WinCustomize. No particular area although the ObjectDock area seems to have the most. Only happens occasionally but when I hit one I can't download it. Stupidly I haven't captured one but I will. I thought there was a simple answer to this like "some people put their files under restricted access" or some such thing. Thanks...

Sometimes that works...but posts cross over to various sites Stardock related.
At the Stardock forums this post is showing under the general "Stardock Support".

Bear in mind not everybody posts under the relevent sub headings.

Also specifics are always more informative than generals.

For example: My 1st inclination on your original post was you're using a dtx FTP object/widget/gadget.

In case you're not sure on 'capture' - a simple print screen, open graphics editor, paste it in, save it, upload to a hosting site such as photobuck(free) or image shack(free) or where ever, copy http url generated, click 'insert image' in 'add a reply' (or edit original post), paste the url in

I've also had this (Firefox 1.5.0.7... whatever the newest version is ). It rarly happens (once a week or so, and I am on the site maybe a total of 2-3 hours thruout the day each day).

I just cancel the request for a name and pass, and then try the link again, and it works. Interesting tho... I thought it was just me

Nope, not just you Keikonium. I have also had WinCustomize give me the wrong file when I select download. Not often but more than a couple of times.
