BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH!!!!!!!!!

BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH!!!!!!!!!

Simply put, I installed bootskin and selected a boot screen, then I rebooted my computer. My PC booted up and the new screen showed up, next the new screen goes away and up comes the blue screen with error messages. Is there anyway I can uninstall the program from a command prompt or maybe do a system restore from the command prompt? Thanks is anybody can help and by the way, the PC is running Windows 2000. I will boot the PC up again so I can write down the error message. Thanks in advance.

BSOD= blue screen of death.

Bios= the chip set programming that controls the Pre os part of your computers booting functions.... basically everything you see before "loading windows" screen

Avoid BootSkin...it's just not ready for prime time on most systems/configurations. Never has been. Not likely it ever will be.

There's a reason it hasn't been updated in AGES. It's been put out to pasture, retired, joined the source code invisible...you get the idea.

BIOS = basic input/output system

American Heritage Dictionary:
BIOS (bī'ōs)
n. The set of routines stored in read-only memory that enable a computer to start the operating system and to communicate with the various devices in the system, such as disk drives, keyboard, monitor, printer, and communications ports.

The BIOS is kind of a really low level operating system. It runs the hardware before the Operating System is loaded. If the motherboard doesn't know how to use a hard drive, how is it going to access your C:/ drive in order to load your OS? Well, the BIOS has a simple set of generic instructions for using any hard drive. Once those kick in, the OS starts to load; more accurate and feature rich instructions (drivers) take over for your particular system thereafter.

Hope this helps
