It's A Mud Run!!

Coaching X-Country is getting harder and harder in some ways. First of all, getting down in the mud is not the same as it used to be. Mud? Yes mud. We do a mud run every year. It just so happened it was that time of year this week. Yes we got down and dirty. The funny thing is the girls really get into it while the boys are running away afraid to get dirty. Some of the boys finally came around with the lure of pictures being taken after the fact.
At one point I looked at the big puddle of mud and saw the girls sitting, laying and just having a blast. They called it a mud bath. The boys were in the field about 200 yards away running further as the girls tried to run at them with big handfuls of mud.
First of all we run down this long dirt road that opens up into farm territory with a river that runs behind it. It's low flat land and if it's not muddy enough we can make our own. We have to be careful tho that it's just mud and not mud mixed with manure. So we pick our site carefully. So after about a mile of running we just get down to business. The dirtier the better. Then we run through town looking pretty strange. We love to hear the cars honking and the bewildered faces peering at us through the windshields. We then go down to the local beach and jump in to wash off. Of course we can't get it all off. That will come later when we get ahold of a bar of soap.
We take lots of pics and then we head back to the school and call it a day. This is usually one of our easy days so we just have fun doing it. The kids look forward to this mud run every year. Sometimes we get our pictures in the local newspaper.
Here's a pic....hope it comes out ok. Been having trouble with it. Can you see me? Hint: I'm not as muddy as some. Arms and face was all I got done.

This is the boys. I didn't jump into this pic.
