Constant freezing and locking up

Ok, this has been pretty frequent. I've downloaded 3 mods from the Library, the mod that makes components invisible and two ship-packs. I've also done some minor editing of the custom races.

The editing had never given me any problems before.

But here's what happens, I'll be playing along. I like to clear out pre-designed ships to reduce clutter in the build selection. However, when I get to the higher-end of the tech trees, when I go to the Shipyard, it locks up on me. I've waited up to 10 minutes with no progress, I cannot click anything else. I've had to crtl+alt+del to shut the game down. And it's only happened since this last update. I don't know if it's because the component or ship pack mods are not compatible with the update. I hope not, because they ships are a lot nicer than anything I can create, and I really like not having visible components.

I'm not sure how to get a dx-diag of the problem as it does'nt actually crash and I have to manually shut it down (always says "not responding" when I crtl+alt+del).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Could be your cpu speed, i recently upgraded to over 1gig of ram, when i was using the old 256mb of ram after i played the game for awhile it would completely freeze when i went into the ship yard or playing larger games, now with the gig of ram and various other upgrades i no longer get freeze ups at all, other than when i play a gigantic map with everything on max then my computer dies but other than this it works fine, here is a little tip.... I noticed that when you set the ram usage to "system cache" it runs faster on my computer, ALOT FASTER than having it set to "programs" I have talked to a few people and they said that having it set to the "progams" should run faster but on my computer it runs slower, so maybe try setting it to but more memory to the "system cache" it sure helped me out big time maybe it will help you out

Posting your computer specs would aid us in helping you troubleshoot- (CPU Type-speed/Memory amount-speed/Video Card Type-memory (Integrated into the motherboard or add-on card? Etc)

Actually, posting the contents of the debug.err file at the time of the crash would be a better idea.
It would include the system specs as well as game data.
