Have you had any Supernatural experiences?

Have you had any Supernatural experiences?

I was scared off long ago.

I blogged the other day and said that the Supernatural was anathema to me. I had a very frightening experience when I was younger and I denied any Supernatural acknowledgement after that. Here's my short story:

I was 20 years old (this is almost 40 years ago!), and my girlfriend at the time became friendly with people who belonged to a Spiritualist church. I attended a service or two and found it quite unnatural---the seances and the belief in the after-life boggled my mind. Here was a church devoted to communicating with the dead! It was deadly serious--not your ouija board stuff--but it frightened me.

At one time I was invited to a meeting with a famous psychic. There were a lot of people there and every word she spoke ("I am in contact with your father, Mary, do you have a message for him?), that sort of thing, freaked me out. After the meeting, our contacts having organised the event, I was introduced to the psychic. Her words to me were something like: " I felt your presence tonight and know that you are one of the chosen ones who can interpret messages and communicate with the departed."

Do you know that I did not sleep for a month after that (real macho huh?), because I thought my room was full of spirits. I was genuinely frightened and had nothing to do with that church ever again.

I know there are times that we all have premonitions and sometimes, co-incidentally, a thought or scenario in our minds may turn real, and I wonder whether any Joeusers have had these experiences. More importantly, how do you feel about the Supernatural?

Cynical and serious comments welcome.

For those of you who have a problem with what I post:

I supply documentation from the word of God - These are not my opinions. You will not seek council from the Bible regarding such things, for it would spoil all your fun. You discard the message for it was not wrapped up in pretty paper with a bow.
As such, you do err in not knowing the scriptures. If I did not care for my fellow brethren I would remain silent and let you continue on your merry way.
I am not required to be tolerant or accepting of that which is contrary to God's word, but I am required to warn those of impending danger, just as I would warn a toddler not to reach up onto a hot stove.
Heed the word of the Lord, it just may prevent you from getting burned.

So you have done your duty of warning about what YOUR GOD say in HIS SCRIPTURES

Why are you ranting about it now?

You have to remember that YOUR God is not EVERYONES God

YOUR scriptures are NOT the ONLY scriptures.

To Jennifer 1,
So are you South African like me, or did you live there for a while?

I was born in Zambia, lived in Rhodesia, Botswana and SA, emigrated UK - best thing I ever did.

The only thing I miss from the African continent - the powerful lightening and thunder storms, the spectacular displays of lightening. I definietly do not miss the heat!

To answer your question, yes, and often. In fact, I induce, invoke, and seek it out in a regular, ritual way.

Good for you LW. Each to their own. Apologies to you, that you do not feel free to write on this thread. Aeryk has a way of getting under my skin with his blinkered responses and views.

Yes this could be a very interesting thread if left to explore the subject at hand.

Supernatural is anything outside the normal natural world so that can be either from the "dark side" or the "light side" I have had a supernatural experience. It involved Christ himself and what I had just read moments before in scripture.

IMO we haven't left the topic....anything to do with God is supernatural and therefore is relevant. When Paul saw the light in Acts 9 and fell off his horse, he realized he just had an encounter with Jesus. That was a supernatural experience.

AD correct me if I am wrong, but I got the impresssion from your post that you wanted to know about supernatural other than religious, ie ghosts, ghouls, voices, ectoplasm all sorts of things. Spiritualism was a part of your discussion.

IT was Aeryk who tried to argue

Glad you learned your lesson, stay away from the darkside. I am not sure if the word Supernatural is correctly associated with the word Spiritual.

I used to look at the anaemic and pasty faces of the goths and witches and practitioners of Theosophy, along with the scary brothers in Free Masonry and the church of Mormon, and wonder, now my skin just crawls, stay away from the night, keep your eyes towards the light. Peace.

I do not believe this was intended to be a discussion of the rights or wrongs of spritiualism or the condemnation of it, it was meant to be a discussion on

"spooky happening",

the unexplanined

ghosts, goblins

the occult

unearthly beings

expereinces relating to the above list .

The fact that I pulled aeryk up to correct him and "admonished" him and you along with others jumped on the "lets condemn spiritualism wagon, with our christian points of view" cannot be escaped.

Kindly return this thread to its rightful discussion.

Lets stick to the subject at hand. Supernatural experiences not the condemnation of a religion.

Yeah, I had a supernatural experience once, but I'm pretty sure it had something to do with some mushrooms I ate.
