Hmmph!!! T'was alright when she was just looking over my shoulder....could fog up her glasses and I'd be right. Now mrs starkers has signed up, I won't get away with anything, will I !!!!!!

That'll teach me to build her own puter, to have a modem that allows us both to be on at the same time....won't it! Actually, I was just as excited about getting it up and running as she was. Trouble was, I had to buy a new mobo and CPU when the old mobo went guts up and I couldn't get anything suitable for the P4 2.8Ghz with a 478 socket. I ended up installing Celeron 2.66 CPU on a Gigabyte GA-81865GM with a 775 socket....meaning we'll have a variety of Intel CPU upgrades at our disposal later on, should it ever be required/desired. Doesn't run too badly at all...maybe not super fast, but with only 512mb of RAM it does quite well for what she needs.

But ha,ha, I'm gonna have the last laugh! Next week I'm upgrading my AMD 3200+ to an AMD Athlon 64x2 4800+. Teamed with 4gigs of RAM, my Audigy 4 Pro soundcard and a new Legend/PCIE/7600GT/256MB/128BIT/DDR3/TV/DVI, me thinks I'll have a kick-ass system that'll do Vista some justice.

I thought it was a brilliant idea....having to share the one puter could get a bit annoying/frustrating at times, so while she was in hospital I was a sneaky bugger and went behind her back to build another. Sadly, it didn't turn out to be the great surprise I had hoped for when she was discharged from hospital...the old mobo fried shortly after the initial startup/XP install and I couldn't get it fixed prior to her return home. Oh well, it's all good now!

Think I made one big mistake, though! Being they're set up on side by side desks, she only has to turn her head slightly to see what I'm looking at. Bugger, that means no more Playboy site visits cos she'll be sitting right next-door.
