Gal2 shows black screen only on start up

Hello,

Please help!!

I have installed the out-of-the-box retail version (1.0).
Everytime I attempt to start the application, my monitor displays a black screen only, but I can hear the audio. I have installed Gal2 v1.2, but have experienced no change after starting the application (still, black screen and audio plays...intro I think).
I have rebooted several times and have uninstalled both versions a few times. Still, no change during application start up. I am now back to v1.2 and have checked my video drivers and they are up to date, forced Anti-aliasing off and played with screen resolution (just in case) - it is now at 1280x1024. Still nothing different.

Please see below, my debug file - sure would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks,
TAAZZ

Your video drivers are *not* up to date. You can get newer ones at nVidia.com.

The game is trying to initialize on your onboard video. Disable it in BIOS and the game should then use your GeForce and work properly.

display 1:

Card Name: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500

display2:

Card Name: Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller

Initialization:

Debug Message: HAL (sw vp): Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller

Obviously, the game isn't using your GeForce. As Kryo has stated, that should be the problem.

And it seems a constant behavior of GC2: to use the second display if available, even it is generally the onboard video.

Hey, im having the same sort of problem, accept my screen goes black then crashes to the desktop. Im not very good with computers and am wondering how i get to the "BIOS"?

Rikao, please post your own debug.err, as it is likely a different problem. You can find the debug.err in C:\Program Files\Stardock\Totalgaming\GalCiv2 (or wherever you installed the game), just open it with notepad and copy/paste everything to a reply here.

I have the same sort of bug, and I have only one display info (my integrated graphics is shut down). My debug.err is at the following post:
