Work Ethic
I like a good Ethic...

I was born and raised in the country. I lived on a farm to be truthful. I had a nice sized barn, 50 acres of land, goats, chickens, rabbits and such to raise. (no cows.. damned stupid f'n cows.. but that's another blog). All my neighbors also were farmers mostly. We had a sheep farm across the street, and they also had some cows... (damned cows again I say... f'n cows). And we also had a horsefarm right next door as well.
What I'm getting at is that I've always been taught a stern, but very rewarding work ethic. Work hard, get as much as possible accomplished during the day, and relax at the end of the night when you have had a day of a job well done. I've had this ethic all my life, and still keep it today in the Navy... but I've been subjugated to a LOT more work ethics than just the 'general' backwoods ethic that I have...
In the Navy, they call it skating. The act of doing as little actual 'work' as possible. I abhor this. The problem is it is basically now a defined art here. You don't have to actually 'be working', just 'look' like your working. Pisses me off more than anything, because I've seen people I know that are 'skaters' who get more recognition for their 'work' than other people I know who are day after day busting their asses on the job. Some people here have amazingly good work ethics that I envy, yet some of these skaters get benifits and accolades that the hard workers don't because they can 'pretend' to be doing hard work all the time easier than the person who busts his ass doing 'actual' work all day.
I will always though stick to the harder path of working my ass off for my job. I may not ever be the best employee, I admit I do make mistakes (and sometimes a LOT of them when I'm just learning something) but I'm a proponent of giving 100% into every job I do.
P.S. And to those who might say "But you aren't giving 110%!!" I say Fuck you!!! I hate that saying with a passion cuz it's such bullshit.
I'm really in a happy mood but I wanted to get this small little rant off me chest
LoL
