After Going Back from 1.3B to 1.2, Problem With Turn/Menu, Can't Continue

WTF?!?!

I encountered the out of memory error in the 1.3B version. So I downloaded and installed the 1.2 patch and my game shows 1.2 as the version when I start up.

I've been playing another Huge galactic map, putting all the races as sub-normal except for the Yor, whom I bumped to the max so I could fight them in a grand galactic battle.

Plugging along nicely, putting many hours into the game. Then I hit a turn where at the end instead of "TURN" at the bottom I get "SKIP" as my selection.

However, hitting skip doesn't do anything. Clicking on ships that still have movement and then trying to move them fails to work, the ship just sits there, although with a new designated trail pointing towards its new destination.

I can't use Escape or click the Menu button, nothing happens. The only way to continue is to ctrl-alt-del and shut down the game from there, then restart the game, and repeat this process ad naseum.

It was bad enough putting so many hours into the game with the 1.3b patch only to have all that time wasted. Now this. WTF?!?!

Patching back to an earlier version is just asking for trouble. Better to do a full uninstall/reinstall if you want to roll back and didn't archive it prior to updating the first time.

This has happened to me in v1.2 two or three times today -- not before. I have used only the v1.2 patch and have never had v1.3b anywhere near my machine. Sometimes I can use the "menu" button, and if I can, getting to "menu" and, then, just clicking "continue" seems to work becuase I continue back into the normal state. Sometimes "menu" freezes as well.

All of this happens when I have started clicking "skip" rapidly to cycle through lots of fleets. Now I do that very very slowly. Fortunately with this and other strategy games that require many hours, I am a "savgame" fanatic. so rebooting the game has not been costly.

Hope this helps
