Personalize Windows with Object Desktop 2007!

http://www.objectdesktop.net/

Over the past few weeks, we've been letting out little bits of information on the impending release of Object Desktop 2007.  There have been articles highlighting updates to utilities such as Keyboard LaunchpadObject Desktop Launchpad, Virtual Desktops, and Theme Manager, as well as the announcement of a brand-new utility; Enhanced File Dialog

Well, today the wait is over, today we are officially launching Object Desktop 2007.  Part of our goal with this launch is to help bring the power of tools such as WindowBlinds and IconPackager to a new group of users.  In the past, Object Desktop and its components were squarely targeted at power users and leading edge computer makers looking to get the most personalized look possible out of their PCs.  Now, with the updates to applications like Object Desktop Launchpad, and the recent redesign of Stardock.com, we are trying to extend the power of our software to users who wouldn't consider themselves 'techies'.

The New Object Desktop Launchpad

As always, we maintain our commitment to regularly updating our products with both bug fixes and new features.  In the past year alone we've released a major update to WindowBlinds, several updates to DesktopX, IconPackager, SkinStudio and numerous others.  In the upcoming year we plan on continuing these regular updates, but also ready our product line for the launch of Windows Vista, early in 2007.  With our software on Vista, we aim to actually define "the edge" that power users are always trying to reach.  While we can't talk about our specific plans for Vista, know that there is some pretty cool stuff coming down the pipeline.

So, if you're a user dabbling with the shareware versions of our products and haven't purchased yet, or if you've been around for a while and have simply let your subscription lapse waiting for something new and fabulous to come out, now's the time to pick up Object Desktop 2007.  Not only will you be ready when Vista launches, you'll be able to bring the look of Vista to your Windows PC today.

If you want to see Object Desktop applications in action, Brad has whipped up a visual demonstration and posted the video here.

How's come my ODLaunch Pad doesn't look like this one. I just renewed my subscription, too. Okay, I'll wait till tomorrow, but don't forget us people that have kept you going for a few years. I've had OD for 3 years. Don't go "Hollywood" on us.

This announcement is rather light on helpful information for existing users. For instance, are the long-awaited updates to WindowBlinds 5 and IconPackager 3 now available, please? Not as far as I can tell as of today from Stardock's `download the latest build' service (I no longer use SDC). Many thanks.

I agree with Brimo, it is a little light on specific information...

As i have been a subscriber for a number of years now i just chose the Renew option and i just got a new download of Stardock Central? There is nothing to indicate anything Object Desktop 2007 related anywhere? When its said that Object Desktop 2007 is now released what does that mean for me? SDC looks the same as it was before i renewed. When a user buys Object Desktop 2007 does that mean they just get Stardock Central with a year of updates to the programs? Surely i would have been entitled to that anyway seeing as my subcription was due to be renewed on September 9th regardless of a big announcement of an OD 2007 release?

I guess what im saying is this: I have been a subscriber for years and i was going to renew on September 9th anyway, however, i got attracted by the OD 2007 excitement and what happened today was just an early renewal, was it not? Maybe im totally confused, but there definitely wasnt enough information given for the various classes of users, and thats disappointing...

So if someone could clarify this for me that would be great...i really think im missing something here...

Thanks,

Ronan

I am not a Stardock employee, but I think you got that one right. OD 2007 is already (mostly) available for current subscribers of the ObjectDesktop suite.

If you renewed your subscription early, it should still be valid until September 9th 2007 as opposed to until one year after your early renewal date. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Yeah its a bit confusing, it would be straight forward if OD 2007 was an actual program that you downloaded and installed. It just seems that existing users dont benefit from the big announcement if they were planning to renew anyway, at least thats how it seems.

Im sure someone will clarify anyway. Im actually not annoyed or anything, i was just curious about it all in case i was missing out on something, im a big fan of Stardock etc... and have been for years, i just thought that all the fuss about OD 2007 wasnt much good to me.

Anyway as i said, im sure someone will clarify it all...

Thanks for your comment aufisch...

@ RTCP: If you are using Stardock Central, and you havethe most up to date version it should be listed in the Object Desktop category. On my list its about the 10th on the list. Called Object Desktop Launchpad. I just installed that today...
