Totally new to bootskin- how do I do it?

Hi- I just downloaded bootskin, but I can't get the downloaded skins to appear in the bootskin choice box. And I noticed when I rebooted to see if that would do it, I got stopped at the "abnormal shutdown" screen, the one that says "Start Windows Normally", "Start in Safe Mode", and so forth. So how do I get the downloaded bootskins into the little box with choices of which bootskin I want to apply, and apply it?

due to different system BIOS, Bootskin doesn't work for everybody. There's at least 3 versions back at the bootskin page. If one doesn't work, try another.

It appears that this program also did something to the BIOS. I uninstalled it, but I'm still getting the error screen described above.

Did you restore Windows default bootscreen in Bootskin before you uninstalled it. If not reinstall set to default the uninstall again.

I hope I don't seem like a complete idiot, but:

I remember the page with the alternate versions, but I can't find it again. Beyond that, I can't get the downloaded bootskins to even show up in the "choice box" in the bootskin program. But the "boot error" messages have gone away, after I completely removed Bootskin. I read on one Bootskin download site that it really screws up the bios.

I really would like to be able to do this. I suppose you all know how tiresome it gets looking at the Microsoft boot screens.

No it does not, as Bichur said it will not work on all systems due to BIOS.

Is HP Pavilion one of those? Or can you direct me to the alternate download site? I also can't get the selected bootskins into the "choice box". Like I say, I don't mean to seem like a complete idiot, but this seems harder than it should be. I wouldn't persist, except that I'm really tired of looking at the same Windows bootscreens.

Bootskin download in my above post is a link to the download site.
Are the skins you are downloading a .bootskin or a .zip.
As for HP Pavilion, not only will BIOS vary from manufacturer to manufacturer but from
model to model even model version to version depending on the tweaks by manufacturer.

for the one who ask about bootskin,first you should download windowsblind and logon studio from www.download.com after that install both software. double click the one you download and a window will appear if the one you want doesnt show click import then browse it then browse again if it doesnt show. if shows then click apply. then try to restart your computer if there an error maybe its not compatible with your computer. then try another. but be sure you back up your file because some have virus in it so careful.you can email me at [email protected] if someone has a question.
