22 digits in my serial

Hello new to the forums

I bought Galciv2 on ebay from asia (as its cheaper) and when i recieved the game, it was in a plastic sleve, with paper for front and back covers, and the cds themselves looked fake.
However, looking at the reverse of the cd, it looks like a factory copy, the back is silver (not the purple or coloured style of CD-Rs) and does not have a line where the data has been burned. also and most importantly the inner ring does say 'Galactic C D lords D1' which makes me believe it is genuine as this can't be printed by copiers and only in factories.

The serial that is provided, also on a sheet of paper only has 22 digits (as opposed to the correct 28). i typed it in anyway and it told me that i had an italian copy where by mistake the italian publisher (Paradox) printed only 25 digits in the serial. and supplied a weblink to rectify this problem.

i went to this weblink and typed in my 22 digit serial and e-mail address and was told that the serial is invalid (as it is only 22 digits and not 25).

Can anyone help me here with this problem?

Professional bootleggers in Asia do indeed have factories--it lets them mass produce many games cheap enough that they can make a profit at their very low prices.

You did indeed get a pirated copy though, which is very common on eBay (claiming to be an "Import Copy" with documentation excluded due to not being in English is a dead giveaway).

Your only option to get any updates or register is to buy a legitimate copy, plain and simple. You may have some recourse to get your money back via eBay, but don't bet on it.

I am sorry that you have been tricked by these illegitimate sellers. I've reported nine pirate auctions this morning alone, but there's no telling if eBay will do anything about it to save more buyers from getting screwed.
