Since no one has responded.

It sounds like you have a program auto hiding your desktop elements.

Do you have, or have you had DesktopX running a theme that hides these in the past?

If so, you might try clearing the cache by deleting the "DesktopX" folder (and "IconX" folder, if in existence) in the "C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock" folder.

For a mini tutorial on clearing the cache http://corkyo.wincustomize.com/Articles.aspx?AID=82461

Note - there is no folder named "cache", this is just a general term for saved user preferences used by the operating system to load the program based on those preferences.

If this does not help, you can - as a last resort - copy the "Apogee" folders (as well as any other installed theme folders) found in "C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\IconPackager\Themes" folder to a temporary folder and then 'uninstall\reboot\reinstall' IconPackager.

Note - this all assumes you are not running a beta version of IconPackager, and that the version of IconPackager is 3.1.

Thabjs corky for respoding to this, I dont have any idea why this would happen, I would make sure you have the latest version of IconPackager. you might also try turning of windowblinds, if you are running it, to see if the conflict is there. If it continues to happen please email [email protected].

Wish I could help more but I know if it could posibley be the Icons themselfs, it must have to do with video memory, or handles, which could be IP, but I dont see how.

Has anyone else ever had this problem?

Hello, and thanks for responding, guys. I was wondering whether it may not be the Apogee Icons themselves, but all icon packages when one tries to include the Cursors, Quick Launch and Control Panel as well. It is only when I include these when the problem arises. Note that Icon Packager does not include those at default. So I finally gave up and now have the icons applied only to the default locations (Desktop, Start, Folders, Drives, Others, Files, Custom files). That's too bad because I REALLY like the Apogee Icons and how they looked in the control panel, but...I don't know, I wasn't able to figure it out.

What other desktop enhancement software are you running? I have Apogee Icon Suite applied, all but Cursors-since it came with none-and have no problems.

And do you have "explorer running in seperate process" checked in Folder Options? This should not be checked, when using Icon Packager. (Edited for my execellent spelling... )
