Michigan ups speed limits using Engineering

formula is limit = 85% of drivers travel at or under the lmiit

That means that the prior limit of 55 or 65 (as they are upping the limit to 70 mph, had more than 15% of drivers on the road driving above the speed limit? well, duh!

So they up and that means there will still be 15% driving above the limit? Hell, up it farther then and you won't have as many speeders....

wait, that would eliminate a whole chunk of public revenue...

jeez

Wouldn't it be great if our speed limits were based on things like, um.. I don't know...

WHAT ROADS AND CARS WERE DESIGNED TO HANDLE... Maybe?

Arbitrary laws produce arbitrary compliance.

The dumbest thing states like MI, IL, OH, IN, CA, and a few others do is split speed limits so that trucks are cars are traveling at different speeds. It seems that no matter how many studies are done to prove to these idiots that not only does it create a seriously unsafe traffic situation it also creates more traffic congestion.

But I guess getting ticket revenue from trucks who's fines are much higher is far more important than safety or easing traffic congestion.
