StartMenu.More Item

Is It posible to move the more programs Over To Right

Hey folks;

I am trying to move the long more programs section that shows all you programs over to the right so it lines up better with the start panel. Is this possible?

Also is it posible to get the more programs text to have shadow and change color on mouse over?

If any one can help on this I would reall appreciate it.

Thanks

I don't believe you can adjust the reference point for that menu - I think it overlaps the "source" item a few pixels by default & is a Windows setting.  A workaround might be to use a transparent border several pixels wide on that side of the menu background & menuitem, setting the content margins so that the icons & text stay within the "visible" portion, but I've never tried it & don't know the pitfalls.

The answers to the second two questions are "No" & "No," I'm afraid.  Maybe with Vista that will change but I wouldn't bet on it happening with WB on XP.

As far as your first request, I don't know of a way to adjust syart menu location. As far as your second ?, all the fonts on the start menu can undividually be adjusted fir font type shadow and color. Any ? on how to do it let me know.

With a program called TClock (skins the clock, but does it tastefully, and not making it look ugly), you can have the start menu open from the right side of the taskbar. You can also use it to remove (check box on/off) the start button itself so it doesn't take up useless space. Works with WB also.

The program is free, and I think it rocks .

Here is a link, check it out if you'd like:

Citizen dull razr;

I do need to know how you do this it has always been a thorn in certain areas of building. I have even tried to make an image of the more programs and have it change with mouse over effect and can't seem to get it to worn. I think it would be really cool to have the image content area change like a button gradient reverse itself and have the text change color also. I think that when I use Photoshop CS2 to save these as bmp's I have to make sure to use 24bit. Let me know if you can and I sure would appreciate it.

Thanks

This is true for font face & "normal" color, but I don't believe shadowed text works here (start menu itself).  In addition, the text color won't change with mouseover.  Unless something has recently changed with WB I don't know about, which is always possible.  I believe the text in the All Programs Menu & submenus is fully configurable, however.

Daiwa is correct. The all programs text isn't as cooperative as others.

You can however do the overlay method using the all programs arrow to get a little more flexibility in design. Several skins have used this method. I used it on this one. It does however cause alignment problems on some Non english systems.

I'm thinking the only way you can fully skin the text of the Start Panel & All Programs Menu/submenus is to use ObjectBar as a TaskBar replacement.  I have not used OB1.99, but 1.65 on Win2k did a nice job of that using the "Use WindowBlinds Skin" theme, though it had a few text limitations, too.  I understand 1.99 can "Use WindowBlinds Skin" too but I'm not sure about configuring it as a TaskBar & StartPanel replacement.

Font color can be changed for "mouseover", if you do not assign an image to the "item". This is also true with the "personality menu background" (or the right click menu we all know). Wish this WOULD change, I've had some nice ideas smashed because of WB not able to skin the fonts/colors in this area.
