As someone that has enjoyed motorcycle riding in the past, I know it's a very enjoyable thing to do, but it's not something that a star athlete should be doing, most especially since almost all professional sports contracts deem motorcycle riding a dangerous sport and leave those athletes staring at the possibility that their contract can be voided.
Either way, Pittsburgh Steelers star QB Ben Roethlisberger got into a wreck today, apparently suffering head injuries, but remaining alert and conscious.
The worst part of the report, in my book, is that he had been counseled by his coach in the past because of his joy of riding without a helmet. Something I only very, very, very rarely ever did (as in perhaps 2 times in the entire time I was ever riding, which covered many miles and several years).
Risk taking is one thing, stupidity is another. Riding without a helmet is downright stupid in my mind.
I hope that he recovers fully from whatever injuries were suffered, but I more so hope he becomes an example of what happens when you don't exercise proper caution while riding a motorcycle.
