Aussies can kick a little round ball....

3/1 against Japan....and even THAT goal was a 'dud'....off a penalty.

There's a first time for everything...and this was the first ever goal scored By Australia in a world cup 'final'....

....and the second....

....and the third.....;)

Ain't that the truth...thing is, we got one of the loudest and fattest (Oz Immigration Minister, Amanda Vanstone), and her voice is more than enough to scare any opposition confonting the Socceroos into submission.

Don't believe me....just do a google on her and you'll see what I mean....

I'm sure she's got more testosterone than any footie team combined

Go 'Duke, more Tim, get fit Harry and bring on Stan too, great to have won a game though and don't forget Uraguay said God wanted them there

And wait till all those red balls in Dec, life will again be peaceful for us stuck here in the antipodes of the Antipodes.
Current rugby helps though !!

While I was happy for Australia when they came back in such dramatic style, and would love to see them go further, you have to remember that the tournament has just started. Many teams are still finding their feet, and it can only get tougher, even if you do get out of the group stages.

I have watched every game so far, and I think there will be quite a few surprises this time. I believe that some teams that have under-performed at previous world cups may just come good this time. Unfortunately, I don't think my team (England) will be one of them, although it would be nice.

Good Luck Australia!!

Bryan...in all the history of world cup soccer finals...that Oz v Japan was Australia's first ever goal....and second...and third....so needless to say it's a mighty big deal here.

Even if we get no further it's a hell of a lot further than we have ever done before...so all is good...

Congrats on that victory, U.S sucked in their fisrt try, hope our luck changes...

Everyone of the so-caled great nations has sucked so far except for the Czechs and the Spanish ( God I really hope they actually DO something this time).

Congrats to the Aussies ( it took my laptop a while to say that for me ) even if they did need the help of the possibly the most blatant penalty not being given to Japan with only 5 or 6 minutes to go I have ever seen. Did you see Cahill trying to hide behind the goalpost after that?

My virtual money is on Argentina - I don't bet. As far as Brazil are concerned if they come across a team who actually believes they can win and will get really physical with them then Brazil will find it harder than all the pundits would have expected. If everyone they play think they wiil automatically lose against them they will. England chocked last World Cup.

T & T were great against England. Stuff Owen and Neville and keep with Rooney and Lennon. Much better methinks

Where were you when the Japanese 'goal' was made?....

Blatant?...even the Umpire apologized for his error.

'Blatant?...even the Umpire apologized for his error' - uumm I don't think he did. In any case if you saw the game then you would have clearly seen the Aussie defender push the Japanese guy into your incompetent goalkeeper - who by the way should never have come for the ball in the first place - it should have have been a penalty for Japan because your guy tried to assaninate the Japanese guy

BTW in football it's a referee NOT an umpire

I'm not quite sure what you were watching but whatever it was it must have been better at your end of the spectrum.

Hey I'm English and even I said well done - everyone needs a bit of luck now and again - and you've had yours now so there

And don't come back saying that England were rubbish y/day because we all know that

Me, well I was watching Queensland demolish the NSW Blues in the 2nd State of Origin rugby league match....30 - 6

IMNVHO, rugby league is the only football there is, even if soccer has a greater following worldwide Apart from the NRL (the OZ comp), I follow the English Super League on Fox Sports (particularly St Helens)...one or two tough Pommies amongst that lot. And there, it took me ages to convince my reluctant keyboard to allow me to pay that (half assed) compliment.

Oh, and BTW....gotta say it...congrats to England on their win.
