How do I authenticate russian version?

I got an import version of galciv II via ebay and the game runs fine on my machine and has some sort of hologramed copyright protection on the box but when I try to update it the registry keys are missing and I have no serial anyway. Is there anything I can do or did I am I stuck with an unsupported game?

eBay has been rife with forged/pirated copies of the game claiming to be 'import' versions (FYI, the game is only distruted legally in US/Canada, Europe, and Australia/New Zealand to my knowledge), so you may well have been had.

In any case though, if there's no serial and it's not a collector's or limited edition (which has a second serial code), then there's really not anything anyone can do for you (even if it was a legit copy).
