Ship Builder Bug

I'm not sure if this a problem that's been reported before, I've done a number of searches and found nothing related to it. Anyway, the problem is purely cosmetic in nature, in that when I create a ship design and save it, numerous functional and jewellry parts just plain don't appear. They still register (as in weapons), but since they don't actually appear on the ship they can't be removed and no new parts can be added. Also, simple cosmetic alterations (like adding wings or something) quite often just don't appear or some of them appear and others don't, and i'm often left with rather retarded looking ships with designs that make little to no sense at all. I've tried with no patches installed, 1.1 installed and the beta of 1.2, but the problem still persists. Any ideas or potential solutions would be most helpful.
