No Drath Cruiser in Shipviewer

Hi,

I noticed this in 1.1, I don't know if it was here before and it is still here in 1.11.
I cannot see the picture of the Drath Cruiser in the Shipviewer window, I mean I can select it in the list on the left but all I see then is the galaxy, the Cruiser is either invisible or not here. Funny thing is, if I go the Shipyard, e.g. to upgrade it, I can see it.

I sent an email to Support about this on May 8th attaching my current savegame. Received an answer two days ago from Cari, telling me they could not reproduce it and that I shoud delete customs ships, and reinstall the game, which I did but to no avail.

I replied on May 20th or something attaching a debug.err file, my savegame and a screenshot. My mistake is that I had not converted the picture format and sent it as a bmp file...

Little did I know then that I'd be punished for this unforgivable deed. Not only did my email bounced back because of that, but I have received something like 300 COPIES OF THE "NO DELIVERY" EMAIL FROM STARDOCK!!! Along with the "Thanks for contact Stardock" email...

Funny thing is, I only seem to receive the FLOODMAILS ONLY during Stardock business hours...

I emailed them several times asking them to have a look in the matter but NO REPLY, neither to the original "bug" (I have resent my support request attaching screenshot as jpg since then), nor to the extremely annoying spam-like behavior of the automatic reply system.

By the way, if any of the moderators read this, the case is #9632.

I know that the Stardock crew are always very busy, but I mean...that's nearly TWO WEEKS without a reply! I hate to complain on a forum and like to sort out my issues directly but it seems that my emails no longer reach them. Theirs DO reach me though. }8-[

If I blacklist support @ stardock.com in my inbox settings, I won't receive any spam-like mails, but also no actual replies, so PLEASE do something about it otherwise that's what I have to do.

Thanks a lot, I appreciate your help.

I am actually, partially in the same boat as you. I noticed a similar behavior, occurring whenever I would download v1.2.009 beta from their servers. For whatever reasoning, everything is fine in v1.11 but once I upgrade, there are 13 ships which essentially become invisible whenever I go to a shipyard to view their models.

Strangely, at least for me, I've noticed this effects the ship designs for: Combat Transport, Cruiser, Destroyer, Dreadnought, Excalibur, Fire Hawk, Missle Boat, Paladin, Phoenix, Ranger, Sledge Hammer, Sniper, Thunder, Star Avenger, and Star Dragon models.

It also seems to only happen, in regards to all the different race designs, except for Humans. If I select having Human styled ships, all those ships (and the others) appear as normal, but if I change to either Altarian, Torian, Drengin, or Yor styled, those above 13 ships become missing, once I go into the shipyard.

I also contaced Support about it, since I hadn't seen any thing like it mentioned here on the forums, but I only sent my request about a day and half ago. I figure since no one else seems to be having this problem, it's probably something on my end, yet I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game many times already, trying to figure out what it is.

The one thing which I later found (after I sent my support e-mail) was that the ships still produce just fine, if I try and build them. It simply seems to be effecting me, when I go into the shipyard to view/modify those particular core ships.

Anyways, as you can see, at least there is one other person who has a similar problem as you had....well, at least your initial problem. I'm not getting flooded by the automated response messages.

Hi, thanks a lot for the reply

Yeah I noticed that the Cruiser will be built fine too.

I don't know if it will occur for other races or other ships as I am a beginner and I don't have much time to play.

Somewhat glad to see I'm not the only one with this issue...somewhat.

Cheers

I've only been playing the game for a little over a week myself. I first found the problem in the middle of a game, and since I had done a few tweaks to the ini file the first time, I thought it might have something to do with it, so I set things back to normal and tried again. Eventually, a fresh install later, and I noticed is happening again in the game. From that point on (I never tried to see if the ships would pop out correctly or not at this point) I would simply fire things up, and I used the cheat codes to give myself the tech to see if things had changed or not. Although it allowed me to quickly test and recreate things, I still haven't actually found the reason why it's happening. Yesterday, I started scouring through the game files, trying to compare between 1.11 and 1.2beta to see if I could find something that didn't match up, which might be causing the difference.

Unfortunately, I searched the best I could, and didn't come across anything. I've gone back to v1.11 for the time being, since for me, everything works normal on that version. Now, I'm probably more interested as to the why of the problem, as I have an incredibly curious nature and would love to understand it, and why I wasn't able to find it myself.

On a slightly different note, are you sure you're running v1.11 and not the beta? I only ask, because yesterday, when going through a few uninstalls/reinstalls, and archiving the before and after of the beta patch, I had a strange thing happened. The game would show the correct version I was trying to play, but when I'd connect to Stardock Central, it would show it as being the other version. I fiddled with it for a bit, removing the archived files, and redownloading things, and finally got the versions to match up correctly. It was mostly confusing than anything else, but when in doubt, all I had to do was test out the game, and see whether or not that Cruiser appeared in the shipyard or not.

Diamond Geezer,

I checked your case and took a look at your saved game. I was able to reproduce the problem on my machine. The problem has been fixed for the next update.

Thanks for letting us know that this was still happening.

Diamond Geezer,

Yeah I like that warm and fuzzy glow of contributing too.

I feel like a proud parent when I see one of my bugs or bitches included in a Frogboy change list for a beta.

Stardock has been the only software company I have ever seen that has taken feedback so well and actually done something about it
