Game crashes/doesn't load after install

I just purchased the game retail in Australia. V 1.10. Installation is fine. When attempting to load up game however a black screen with a cursor appears, this lasts for a few moments. The game then resorts to the desktop and does nothing. I renamed the movie folder and this allowed the game to load. However, I would like to be able to play the game with movies. My Drivers are up to date and specs should all be fine. Is there a codec problem here?

Any help would be appreciated.

Could you post your debug.err file here so we can get a better idea of your system specs (program files\stardock\totalgaming\galciv2\debug.err).
