Change Game Resolution

need to change game resolution before starting game

I set the game resolution to one that the the game could not load under. I now can't seem to change it back.

Any ideas how I could change it outside of loading the game?

I found what I needed.

it was a file like /My Documents/My Games/GalCiv2/prefs.ini

yep. you can also adjust that file for custom resolutions, such as portrait for widescreen monitors, or extra large resolutions for multiple monitors.
