Selected items

First, sorry for my bad english. Hope you'll understand me !
I try to make a skin. Everything ok but I still have a problem with selected items. It's perfect in all windows ( black selection and white text ) but I dont'd find where to change for the start menu ( and other menus ) because there is a white selection with white text.
Thanks for your help.

Which part of the start menu are you trying to change? Each section has it's own text settings.

In SkinStudio:

Start Panel/Item

Start Panel/More Programs Menu/Item

There are graphic & text settings for them there.

Hi,
In Start Panel / Item I have no settings available
For the second ( more programs ) it's Ok.
Thank you

I'm sorry - you are correct.

The 'Start Panel/Programs List' and 'Start Panel/Places List' both have their own text settings. The Start Panel/Item is only for the background graphic.

I compared with some other skins and don't find where is the problem. I changed in the property of windows and it was ok one time, but the same on restart. Open again the property and saw that it was good text in black but not applied in reality.
?? It's mysterious !

Although SkinStudio has settings there for all the usual text attributes, the mouseover text color does not get applied to the items on the Start Panel Places & Programs Lists - only the normal color will get used for all states (at least that's true for me with WB4 & WB5). You should be able to set the normal color there & have it "work" once the skin is reloaded, though.

I think (things change all the time)... If you are using an image for the mouseover image, the text settings for mouseover are disabled. If you do not use an image (just a colored mouseover) then the text settings will work as set on mouseover.

For everything to work, in some cases, you will need to reboot for the changes to take effect.

The item image itself does not have text settings.

Thanks again.
I try and try and text colors allways change strangely. Now I have a blue color ( not put by me ) in buttons on mouse over. The only way to change selected items is on windows property but I can't save in my skin. I realy don't know what to do.

Are you using a mouseover graphic, Topynou, or does the solid Windows highlight color appear when you put the mouse over one of the items in the list?

Apparently, the text settings are dependent on that from what Night Train says. If a graphic is not being used, I gather the text settings for colors (normal, mouseover, pressed, disabled) are supposed to work. I always use a mouseover graphic so the text is fixed at the normal color no matter the state here. Nonetheless, I can select a normal color even then and it gets used.

I don't use a mouseover graphic, only colors for the moment.

If your not using an image for the mouseover, then the mouseover color is currently set in the classic colors section. SELECTIONS/TEXT-HIGHLIGHTED

It's OK in the settings ( selection black and text white ) and it is applied on windows but not on menus ..... Allways the same

I stand corrected, Night Train - thanks for squaring us away.

Just out of curiosity, do you know if there is any chance SD will find a way to enable those settings in the StartPanel in WB5 or has that development been dropped in favor of prepping the Vista version?

It's done ! I find in the menu hilighted color. It didn't want to change but try 4 times and it's good now.
Thank you very much to all of you.

Daiwa... Text settings such as this change from version to version. I don't expect it to stay as is. Everytime they post a new version of WB I cringe knowing I have to do some work finding what has been changed. Right now, taking the mouseover text from the classic colors isn't the best place as that color is used throughout the system.
I have no clue if they intend to rearrange where text colors come from. I am guessing that per pixel images cause headaches and they are trying for the best balance. Just guessing..

I'd much prefer using a mouseover graphic and having the WB text settings for the StartPanel work. The StartPanel may be something like Favorites Menu, a Toolbar control tricked out to look like something else, since the text state issues are similar. We'll just have to be patient, I guess.
