I cant reactivate some video options

I deactivated some options (e.x bump-maps) and didnt like the result so i reactivated them but even
after restarting the game and deleting and reinstalling the whole game i cant have those options back.
It seems it has been written somewhere in the registry. I am really an addicted player with this game
so do i have to format my harddrive in order to see it again as normal?

When you uninstalled did you remove the folders also? If not, try the uninstall again, then delete the GalCiv2 folder, as well as the folder in your My Docs\Games.

i did what you said and still have those f*******g options. My ships are invisible on the map!!!!
Where are those options saved for god sake???
I will also completely erase that f*******g stardock central!
I am really pissed off right now....

remember that SDcentral is the only way to get beta updates : that is of course if you want them
otherwise you can just download the 1.0X update right now or the 1.1 final somewhere in the future

all setting for the game are stored inside :
my documents/my games/galciv2/prefs.ini
just delete that file & everything should be reset to defaults

if that's not enough
uninstall galciv2 (either through sdcentral or add/remove programs), uninstall sdcentral too if you wish
delete the galciv2 program folder
delete the folder my documents/my games/galciv2 (not the whole my documents, just the last folder of course)
search in the registry for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Stardock
and delete it (if you don't have any stardock product that you wish to keep)
do the same thing for : HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock

all should be gone & you can reinstall in peace

Thanks for the interest, but nothing happens, i have deleted EVERYTHING, folders, sdcentral, my docs folder, registry entries.....it still shows crappy ships. I guess someone from development will try it out and see why this is happening but until then...i will play that crappy empire at war....

i finally formatted my harddrive, reinstalled win XP pro + sp2 + latest video drivers + galciv + patch.
I am ok now and capturing some drengi planets to cool off from the frustration!

As far as i can see it could be a problem with my laptop and not necessarily with the game because now i can
activate-deactivate options.

Thank you and sorry for the problems i possibly caused to the developers

its an incompatability error, i have it currently with planets and ships and it just happened after updating to beta.
I am uninstalling and removing registries at the moment, to see if it is a problem within the beta that has the confliction with something.

Edit:
It is a conflict with GalCiv2 that causes this..at v1.0 i have Textures, Planets, Ships et al.
After update all are missing.
I dont have the time to discover what the beta is comflicting with, but this might need looking into as i like to see ships/ planets and textures too heh

These options are not stored in the registry, but rather in your prefs.ini file. This file can be found in your My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2 folder. Close GC2 if it is running, then delete this file. All of your options will go back to their defaults the next time you start up the game.

If your ships are still missing, please post your debug.err file. (Located in c:\program files\stardock\totalgaming\galciv2 folder )

This will help us to determine what the problem is.
