Video card and such

Okay, just bought Galciv2 and I dont have the proper video card. I have an Intel® Extreme Graphics 3d and Intel Pent4. I'm sonewhat computer illiterate so excuse me if I sound like a mental defective. My computer frezzes during the load screen when I'm getting into the game. It was working somewhat okay at first but got worse each time I played it. Is it the Video card and Is there anything I can do to fix the problems. Please be specific because I ain't got no smarts.

Have you updated the game through Stardock? If not, it would be a good idea to get the latest beta version. And the release 1.1 version is due out next week.

As to the video card, it sounds like yours is an onboard motherboard chip, and that is probably not very good for this game. I have an Nvidia 6800 GS which works very well, and it is not a real expensive card.

If you shop online this is probably the cheapest place I have found, and it is where I bought my video card:

I play it on my laptop and i've got a nVIDIA Geforce Go 7300.
Anyway u should get at least a 6600 at least or u could go for the ATI graphic cards all u would need is a 9600XT that should be enough cause the ATI graphics are considerably better than nVIDIA graphics cards.

anyway intels graphics will never compare to ati or nvidia
so u should get something
intels chips are all intergrated and they are all slow and shitty
if u hav pci express like i do. then get a ATI Radeon X300SE it is pretty good and at $97 AU its great value.
or u could go for a higher nvidia graphics card like the 6600GT or 6800GT that would be good enough.
It would be better to get a ATI one tho.
if u want higher on ATI then get a ATI Radeon X800XT or X850XT.

Most cheaper ATI or nVidia cards will run the game (I'm thinking ATI two generations back, the 9600s or 9800s, or nVidia/ATI one generation back) but that Intel card won't have a good time of it. There's probably nothing to fix it.

if it freezes during the load you should post your debug error and it will tell people around here a lot, if you go into the stardock folder there should be a thing to click on that says debug error, just open it with wordpad and post it here somewhere, it has a lot of useful info.

u can't get a intel chip to run on a good game like this
it wastes money buying it if u have a crappy graphics card and u hav no money to buy a new one
anyway the intergrated intel extreme 3 chip does 141 points in 3Dmark03 and the X300SE does around 5000
i took apart my old pc and tried to take out the intergrated intel 82815 chip but unfortunately it doesn't come out
so its best if u get a 9800XT or geforce 4 motherboard
that should work
