My New Ride

Well, at least while I'm bogged down at work, I can play a bit during the commute. My new ride is the 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser. A sort of retro version of the Landcruiser, the first vehicle ever to make checkpoint 6 on Mount Fuji.

WOW! Very cool, Bill! Congrats on the new Toyota!

Hey, you've been missed around here. I've thought of you a lot lately. Hope things are going well for you.

We call these things Toorak Tractors....for wifey to take the kids to and from school....they'd faint at the thought of actually taking them off-road....but they make great pedestrian-killers.....and have the roll-center of a London bus.

They 'shouldn't' be for a 'commute' but for farm-work or equivalent....

Does it pull your boat?

...depends on your commute. This is no yuppified version. The only bells and whistles have to do with rear differential locks and active traction control in 4L. This is a rock climbing, mud slinging, monster that will never be this pretty again. http://www.toyota.com/fjcruiser/index.html?s_van=GM_TN_FJ_INDEX

...but your point is well taken and I get quite a giggle out of women taking their Hummers to get groceries. ...A Hummer is a truck folks.

Thanks, Donna. I see some relief of time restraints in the future and hope to be spamming again soon.

...no hitch yet. I may sell the boat if I can't get out much this year (waiting for a gasp from Wreckless Eric and @Lantec)

...or I may just get a hitch.

Very very nice, SD

Now this is the ideal one for transporting the kiddies to school.....no parking issues...

Ooh....even better....

Light, compact....gotta be economical.  Parking....fits in any suburb....[one only per suburb].

If big and/or fast cars are a penis-substitute then you really must pity this owner's partner [if any]....

Clearly an indication that as a child someone was denied a Tonka truck for Crissie...so is making amends.....

That's a real nice ride, SD. ....and people'll be sure to see you coming with that bright yellow paint job

.but they make great pedestrian-killers..

My nephew, Ethan, was hit by one very similar while cycling home from school....he ended up in hospital with two broken legs and a severe concussion. He was very lucky to have survived it, had it not been for his helmet, his injuries would have been much worse, probably fatal....it was shattered into several pieces.
Poor little bugger, he'd not long lost his father and that happened. Fortunately he healed quickly, is back on his feet and getting around normally again.

Oddly enough, it was the mother of his best mate who was driving....picking her son up from school.

We call these things Toorak Tractors.

Yeah, in OZ FWD's have become more of a fashion statement these days....here in Launceston, it seems every sixth or seventh vehicle is a FWD with a nice shiny bullbar....like they're going to encounter cattle in the city centre

But hey, SD, don't take too much heed of my prattlings....you enjoy that nice new set of wheels and drive safely, ya' hear

Not a big truck fan myself, I have kind of a strange taste in vehicles. I Like sporty sedans, like the Cadillac CTS, or Lincoln LS, those kinds of cars. I know, I'm funny like that. But it's hot looking! Love the yellow!

Love the new avatar, Rich

The yellow is nice . . but it could be bettter.

How about a skinning contest? The color scheme of my avatar would work well I think.

Between the recreational swamps in the are, and the construction sites I go almost daily, yes I do. Otherwise I would have purchased this

I had one of the early Land Cruisers back in the 70's and rolled it down a hill called the Widdow Maker. What a great vehicle that was and congrats to you.

I'd prefer a McLaren F1 myself to all of these.. But, I'm stuck with my LE 04' 300M. ..

Oh well I can dream.
