I am convinced this is a bug now

Ship Building:

Well I satrted a new game and used another mod pack for ships and the same thing happened before. I was able to outfit a speed 4 ship right out the gate. Well I didn't want to cheat, so I made some ships myself speed 3's and 4's.

Well later in the game I did a lot of trading and got i,pulse drive mk II. I decided to go ahead and make a new constructor so I clicked "update" in the shipyard. I got the same 55 available points, so I went to the modules and saw that the construction module wasn't there as a choice. I then noticed that the special ability to construct starbases WAS STILL THERE, even though the image of the constructor module wasn't on the ship at all.

I was able to make a speed 17 constructor. I did the same with my colony ship. Why were the modules still there? And, why with mod packs am I able to construct such a powerful ship at turn 1?

Please fix the shipbuilding. thank you

Hard to judge whether it's a problem with the mod pack, or with the way the game handles mods...

This was identified within hours after B3 was released. They will have it fixed for 1.1 final.

Just a quick note to thank Woody for a thought-out, non-flame post.

So often when people think they have found bugs, they just scream "BUG!" and start insulting the developers/designers/world in general.

Posters (including myself) often point out that complainers shouldn't be so negative towards those that they are trying to get help from.

To that end, I figure it's worthwhile to also note when someone comes out with a constructive, well-toned post that points out a potential problem. While this suspected error may already have been noticed, its refreshing to read a "bug" note that actually provides some background research and information that might help others discern what the problem is.

Never noticed it but good it will be fixed in the final v1.1 patch

pretty sure you can get around this if you check the thingie in the options menu where it retains obsolete components when upgrading a design, will still have the constructer/trade/invasion module listed as a component and taking up the appropriate amount of space.
