WB Config Window

Missing scrollbar

Hi,

I am a paid, registered Windowblinds 5.01 customer. I seem to be having a problem with my windowblinds configuration screen. The scrollbar to scroll skins is missing (I have installed over 10 skins but only 4 show on the window). The install was clean without a hitch.
Dell 8200, ATI 9600 series.

Thanks.

Did you first uninstall any previous versions of WB? If you switch to XP or Classic is the scrollbar still missing (you can scroll the skin list left & right using the arrow keys to get to them if necessary)? And did you reboot after the install?

Also, did you first uninstall any prior versions of WB?

Hi thanks for your comments. I did not have any previous versions of WB. However, during my first install I was unable to activate because of my firewall. So I tried the manual activation. While I was waiting for the manual activation, I unistalled WB and reinstalled twice until I figured out that the problem was with my router and so waited until I received the activation file.

I tried your suggestion of applying Classic and XP skins. A few things are different that I noticed. First, when I come to the classic or XP skin in the skin browser, I do not get a "Apply this skin" link on the picture. However, I right clicked on the image of the skin and could apply the skin. Second, only for these two skins, the skin browser closes as soon as it applies the skin. This does not happen with other skins.

Thanks

Hi,

I just wanted to clarify that when I said that the install was clean without a hitch, I meant the installation part, rather than the activation part. I had actually done a clean boot (via msconfig turning off all nonessential non-microsoft services)before installation.

Thanks.

did you download as a stand alone or via SDC (Stardock Central Browser)?

SDC: Link

if you didn't use SDC, try uninstalling WB, install SDC, register WB, then download via SDC

I had downloaded a stand alone. I will try your suggestion. Why does SDC make a difference?

Thanks.

SDC was designed as a download/install/archive/restore archive/keep track of and apply updates manager

Hi,

I have been trying the SDCentral installation. I do not have a router and have disabled all software firewalls But I am unable to register the SDCentral software due to error 1001. I could not find an login.log but had an account .log that I have sent to support. So I am stuck!

Thanks.

"Apply changes" should still be an option, right under the word WindowBlinds on the left side of the WBConfig dialog.

I'm not sure what the activation error is about - sorry can't help there.

The activation error apparently is related to the SDCentral software wanting to communicate with SDCentral and install some files in my computer. Somehow, it is not able to do that.

Be that as it may, should there be a difference between the stand alone WB that I have and the one obtained through SDCentral? If the stand alone WB is just as good, then my problem remains!

Please help (Daiwa, Neil, Bichur...)

Thanks.

AV turned off also?

The only difference between the standalone version & the SDC version is that you uninstall the former using the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel applet and the latter via SDC. They are otherwise the same.

I can think of nothing to do except a complete uninstall of all things Stardock, rebooting and starting over again. If you choose to do that, be sure you switch to Windows Classic or XP before you do the uninstall (that unloads & unlocks the WB files). Whether you use the standalone installer or install via SDC, just be sure to reboot after the WB install before trying to apply a skin.

Wish I had a better idea, but...

Hi,

Sir Bichur: How do turn off or check status of script blocking?
Daiwa: Ok, I will try the mega uninstall and reinstall. Meanwhile I will keep checking here to see what you all have to say.
Thanks
