The product appears to be validated... please help me!!!

Please help if you know A resolution!!

After downloading the most recent update the game won't start anymore (today's date is April 9th 2006) . I have a legite copy and I really don't want to lose my saved games by having to reinstall everything. As soon as I got the most recent update my game apparently forgot some vital information. Everytime I try to start it now it just says "The product appears to be validated but the serial number or the machine SID don't match." I'm really clueless as to what to do it had worked fine everytime before. The only thing that I think could be causing this is that I have the main game files on a seperate hard drive than the Stardock files.

In your GalCiv directory, delete the sig.bin file then restart.
