Galciv.com website so slow?

Is anyone else experiencing slow page loads on this site, especially in the forums?

I know the forum pages have to load all the messages. So what I would call a "fast" page load is about ten seconds. A slow page might take up to a couple of minutes to load.

I was curious if others are experiencing similar performance, and if so, has it always been like this?

btw, this occurs on at home on my dsl and at work with multiple T1's.

I have been seeing the slowdowns most of today, and I have seen them from time to time in the past. Since it seems to be more occasional than constant, my assumption was that it was somehow load related. My impression is one of seeing it happening more on weekends than during the week, somewhat in line with my recollection of when the most posts occur on this forum. My last request (calling up this thread) seems to have been quick, so maybe whatever was causing it has abated.

Then again, maybe not. That last post took quite a while to travel up the wires and back.

No, the problem is that it shares teh same SQL database as WInCustomize and WC has been getting increasingly popular.

In fact right now I'm cheating. I took WinCustomize.com down so that I could read through here.

That's the news group and we read that as well. Working on galciv.com to try to make it faster.
