Cleanup/improvements

Having great fun with the game. A few small things that I see as easy or really nice to have would be :

1) when upgrading tiles, do the ones with most bang for the buck first.. (Do the ones with bonuses specifically) Thankfully the AI has same error. (Seen them upgrading one simple factory, while they could be doing the one with +700%)

2) Keep the PQ improvements at the bottom of the queue. Why make the planet bigger if you still have tiles ? I geuss it may help population, but generally i'd rather them last.

3) Make trade better. It's way too weak, at least 50% better would be start if not more. Last game I actually left the league because trade was only bringing in around 200 BC, while I wanted to go Democracy which had been outlawed. In GC1 I don't ever remember even considering leaving the league. Which brings me too :

4) Rethink some of the timelines. Seems like some things are leftovers of the GC1 month timeframe. IE the must go imperial was for like another 2 years, which is a hell of a lot of turns in GC2. Also lots of text stil refers to months in the events that happen.

5) Please please improve the governors. Please add something like GC1 where you had different govs. Each Gov could have a mil project, production focus, and rally point. It's way to hard to manage a large empire. .

You know you can adjust your build queue by moving the stuff you want done first up, and the other stuff down?

What game build are you playing? It seems that in 1.1bv3 the AI is more efficient at managing planets from my short experience so far.

This was last beta and prior. Got a game going so I can't switch yet. I don't like having to fix the build queue all the time as I do now... It just seems that a change there would be a good improvement. (helps the AI as well, since most smarter people adjust thier queue)

Yeah, and the AI go for pq improvers, the best thing to do. Why? more space to quick buy something. PQ improvements are a better thing to use, and their quick to do.

Good point Marcathonus.

If you've got at least 2 tiles open why would you do PQ improvements ? I've seen the AI build a starport maybe a trade center, and then have soil/habitate queued up. It's silly. If you've got tiles open build them, not get more.

i agree with gallagher. I usually prioritize PQ improvements fairly low and usually don't get habitat improvement till midgame.

To each his own. I think the answer is a priority setting for the governors. This could get too fancy, but I'd like it where you could say under gov X, do research projects, then morale, etc....

Or it could just apply to just the single gov we have now. That way when you get discovery sphere, or industry center, you could easily tell all your planets to get started on them, as opposed to what they're doing now.

Is the new beta better for crashs ? I'm trying to finish a game and it keeps dieing. Not complaining at all, it is a beta.

I have no idea why anyone would improve the PQ before building on all available tiles. There's no benefit until you actually build on that new square. And the time you spend upgrading could be used adding capabilities.

There seems to be a lot of things missing that were in GalCiv I - AP that would improve the easy of playing the game. But I guess that's what you get when starting over from scratch. I'm sure those improvements are on the way.

I think you can get lucky, and the new tile could have a good bonus on it., but I'm not much of a gambler in a strat game...
