Noobie questions time

Doh - do what?

First question, I made a large nanoripper and a medium nanoripper and 5 troop ships.
I sent them after a planet rated 15.
The nanorippers decimated the ships that were on the planet and there were no other ships in a 5pc distance. I sent in the troop ships one at a time and they refused to assault the planet.
I stacked the ships and attempted to send them in on the next turn. Again they refused to attack.
There was (is as I saved the game and came right here) a base nearby but no ships near it.

WHY will they not attack?

Second question, Why don't my space stations that are barely out of atmosphere of a planet allow a enemy troop ship stop right along side the station and planet, go to next turn and watch as the troop ship assault my planet?

Should not the space stations be a little smarter then the ships? And if the space station is right beside the planet should it not count as a ship in orbit?

My neighbors are starting to think I have stets syndrome.... blasted cheating computer...

your space stations are not in orbit, they are a parsec away. That's pretty far. Space station can't do anything offensive, only defend itself from assult.

as for the troop ships... I don't know. Sometimes if you save and load a game some glitchs will clear up.

It would be nice if you could put space stations in orbit to defend key planets, maybe smaller ones with a reduced number of modules.

starbases cant do anything to help protect your planets. military bases can help the attack and defense of orbiting ships if you have modules installed on it, but having starbases near planets wont help protect, about the troop transports i dont know. the only thing i could say is make sure there isnt still a shield symbol on the planet because that means there are still some ships there.

Starbases are a bit annoying in orbit. "Hey ma, we have two moons!"
"That's nice dear" *gets ritalin*

But if you have a fully souped up automatic military base with traction control and all the goodies, just chuck 5 crappy fighters next to it. Hey presto, an uber fleet!

I restarted that mission and gave up on that planet but a new planet (one that was zero rated) was just settled by a new race. i sent my ships after it and the nanoripers will not attack the planet and theres no shield. no shield on the first planet either. the troopers will not assult the planet either.

I think i'll start a new map and see if its a bugged mission.

Are you sure you have a troop module on your transport?

You sure it's a transport, not a colony?

i believe i used the advanced troop container. But i might have used the wrong container.

i deleted that game already and the ships that i had made that were not showing a image when selecting them for construction. they were made useing a different race's hulls.

err....Species

Hi!
i believe i used the advanced troop container.

You sure you loaded it with population from the planet where it was launched? You need to have pop (= troops) on board to invade.

Well, you can't send a transport away without at least "1 troop".
